me and a friend were thinking of taking a train tour of canada. anyone out there done this? if so, any recommendations on where to go, what to see?
thanks
i work on a tour train actually. haha, what province were you thinking?
my best tips would be
go in late September early october, for best foliage and hiking experience
bring your own snacks and food as the price onboard is extremely pricey

Trains are way more expensive than planes in Western Canada....if you want to save a buck travel Greyhound bus/coach.....if you can afford it fly, preferably West Jet, as our national airline Air Canada is somewhat less than friendly.

i don't mind a bus, but trains are more comfortable, plus they usually serve food, lol. i know the sleeper cars are pretty pricey. i just got back from calif. and the ticket, round-trip was around $300. if i got a sleeper, the price would have been $1800! pretty amazing diff.
I think your costs will depend on where you want to go? Where do you want to start East or West? It's all beautiful, but knowing where to be when is a secret only Canadians know...you're lucky to have "connections" lol jk
