Canadian Drug Laws

The Conservative government's controversial bill that would impose mandatory jail time for offenders caught growing a handful of marijuana plants appears headed to the trash can.

The Liberals announced Wednesday they will not support Bill S-10, which has already been passed by the Senate.

Glad to see some common sense in politics.

thats awesome. what a hypocracy though, its medicinal to some and dangerous to everyone else. I cant believe they still get away with this stuff

Is that for sure my friend, please say it's so. I've written a few letters to our leaders about this and the PC office was the only one not to respond.

I heard that the opposition will not support it even if it becomes a confidence vote. Would be pretty sweet if cannabis brought down the government.

Just google it, there is lots of information.

They were unable to secure minimum sentencing for 1 plant. 6+ = minimum.

1-5 plants.

It's not decriminalized. S10 was a crime bill and part of it was MANDATORY prison sentences for FIRST time offenders starting with 6 months for having anywhere between 6 to 200 plants and 12 months for 201 to 500, and up from there. That bill was sent back by the Liberals. It is still illegal and they can still penalize you for it but there's no mandatory terms.
