Canada’s competitive advantage in cannabis is disappearing.

Half of the 10 biggest marijuana companies trading in Canada are now U.S. based, including MedMen Enterprises Inc. of Los Angeles, Curaleaf Holdings Inc. of Wakefield, Mass., and Green Thumb Industries Inc. of Chicago. Quincy, Florida-based Trulieve Cannabis Corp. and Boulder, Colorado-based Charlotte’s Web Holdings Inc. are among the top 10.

Canadian companies still take the top three spots north of the border, though the biggest pot company by market value, Nanaimo, British Columbia-based Tilray Inc., is listed in the U.S. and has a market value of $10.4 billion (U.S.).

Canadian companies took on a leadership position as Canada became the world’s first major economy to legalize pot for both recreational and medical use. But the influx of U.S. cannabis companies, which have turned to Canada to gain stock listings because of a federal ban south of the border, is bringing that advantage to an end.

Combined, those top U.S. firms represent $10.6 billion of market value — or about 20 per cent of the $55 billion market capitalization of the 144 cannabis companies listed in Canad

It appears to be about market value ..... so just a bunch of BS I suppose.

Even if most are American companies, they ALL only have access to the same shit genetics between themselves as LPs. If this were ACTUALLY legalization and not only by name, it'd be a free market where everyone is allowed equal participation without being hamstringed by regulations CLEARLY made to benefit the first handful of LPs by making them the genetic gatekeepers.

Yes it is a plant, with known and yet to discovered incredible medical use. My greatest fear now is that not enough money with be invested towards independent medical research. All they want is to take the money and run.

So regular Canadians can be banned from the States for smoking a legal joint in their own country, but we allow Americans to own our weed suppliers? Tax any foreign weed company at 85%.

simple solution really....(Free Trade)
do not let American companies compete in Canada , until there is a complete and balanced
playing field....where both sides have equal opportunity to succeed

With so much American money invested since day 1 , we're well past that unfortunately.
