You can use a mh light for flower but your plant will stretch more... The end result will be a bit more of a lanky plant but they will get the job done....

it works fine, smaller buds, bit more resinous, more leafy too.

just use it till you can get hps.

Most of the differences in results are from light levels, not the low blue HPS.

At the same light intensity, HPS will cause more stretch than MH.
400 watts HPS = 55,000 lumen.
400 watts HID = 29,000 lumen.
The MH puts out about half as much light, low light causes stretch.

And THAT is where 90% of the difference comes from. I ran my tests with the lumen levels the same and HID kicked ass. It does cost almost twice as much in electricity to match lumen levels, but compared to the labor required to grow I consider that irrelevant.

In the budroom every third bulb is HPS, I get the best overall results with this mix of light and my sativa strain. My indica yellows with any HPS, their choice, not mine. I like sativa better, my choice, not theirs.
So the lights stayed 1 in 3 HPS. Indica has yellowing at the end with this ratio, but otherwise doesn't cause any noticable deficiencies.

MH bulbs are excellent to flower with if it is head stash. The yield will be a bit less but you will have better trichome production and possibly a shorter flowering time.
