My ignorant idiot friend told me that he's worried for me because I sesh daily. He showed me some articles saying that MJ can cause schizophrenia, or at least make you more likely to get it?

I have a hard time believing this, I know it's bullshit. But maybe I'm being ignorant of this. Also i started to smoke weed since 16, and i heard that the illness develops at like 20 years of age, and i also read the left hand people are like 60% ljkely to get it, im left handed.
So do you personaly know anyone who got scizophrenia from weed? What do you think?
 
Someone correct me if I am wrong but I think if you have a mental illness history in your family then yes it increases the chances however if you haven't then I don't think its likely.

Honestly everyone is different so it's hard to say if this is true but I experienced a weed smker buddy of mine who went coo coo for coco puffs and he start acting Scizo. No lie! I and his family had to go visit 4rm some facility bcuz he was saying crazy things like "the voices in my head told me I had to kill my sister's baby and what not". So he stopped smking but thght bout it and never back to it. Doctors gave him medicine bull crap. I still think he was acting as some do want attention, who knows! Gd topic Spac!

hes probably already skitzo, just not yet diagnosed maybe.. we've all without a doubt seen people get all paranoid and anxious, so yeah i think someone that isnt "all together" can definitely have this happen. to the OP, im a lefty also haha, im fine.. i think :bigjoint: been smokin for a pretttttty long time

I suppose weed can magnify something like that if one has a propensity towards it yeah.....but if you are mentally healthy to begin with, it won't cause it
 
Mental illness tends to show itself between the ages of 18-22, sadly it runs in my wifes family. This tends to be the time when most experimenting with drugs starts too, so the question remains is it coinsidence or a cause?
 
I am a lefty never had probs smoked weed for about 24 years but i think if you rip the shit out of it it will alter your thinking some good some bad but it can't be as bad as the more socialy acceptable drugs ie alcohol the shit that will do to your mind.
 
If your family genetics are prone to schizo, you will get schizo. Not from MJ.

A stressful incident can trigger mental disorders.
 
Marijuana CAN cause your mind to break from reality, in the bad schizo type of way, although usually temporary. There have been studies that show long term heavy use can cause it, especially if you are already prone to mental sickness.

no okay, fuck. ppl who already have mental problems might turn to 'drugs' as, obviously, they already have underlying problems. so when u see a bunch of kids and theyre turning skitzo, of course they'll blame the weed that the kid just started smoking half a year ago. meanwhile the other half is just as skitzo but they dont have something to blame them for
 
Just tell your friend you are going to start taking Abilify, that will really give him something to worry about.
