he could be a hunter which is a male mosquito and they do eat other bugs.not the plant.they like to rest on the plant in the shade.

Thats a juvenille assassin bug my friend, I'm pretty sure the first picture here is exactly what you have. They eat other bugs, he's probably walking around waiting for food, they don't eat plants so thats good.
Be careful though they will bite people, and the have this really long mouth like a straw that they use to stab their pray(or whatever they bite(more of a stab lol) They DO have some venom that they inject to kill their prey too, its not really dangerous to people, but it'll hurt.

Ya the front right leg kinda threw me off, it looked very mantis like. I spent too much time in photoshop and not enough time on my entomology. Good catch though, either way good bug to have.
