I know they detect at night, but what about during the day? I got reflectix insulation on my walls except there is a 6 inch by 8 ft gap at the top area where I didn't put any, only 2x4's. What if I leave that area bare or do I need to cover it. It's just a hard area to get to. A loud ass helicopter just flew over. Can they detect during the day light hours? Any one with knowledge in this area?

Yes IR can be detected in daytime. Your grow room will show up on a heat camera - but so will your boiler room, your neighbour´s bathroom, etc..

I would destroy everything! They will be knocking down the door in moments! LOL If they are using FLIR on your pad they have already been watching you. They just cannot randomly check houses/structures. Probable cause fellers........and yes FLIR works day or night....

wouldnt worry yourself about it mate, dont now what lights you using my 600w gives of no noticable heat in my un insulated loft...

its just a paranoid mentallity from growing/smoking, not all police forces in the uk even have flir cam equiped helis but have to borrow them from other countys also not every heli flying about is searching for grow ops more likely to be chasing some smackhead in a stolen car whilst filming it for road wars lol

thats from a copter not a plane yo -and they make some kind of heat shield rflector paper for walls to block heat signature

They like to fly at night, except maybe during winter, because the sun heats up the roofs. During the summer, all roofs show hot due to summer sun. During the winter, yea they possibly could detect that. Normally it is obvious during the winter when your the only house on the block with no snow on the roof.
