It's January 1 son. Obviously it had a little bit too much holiday cheer.
Good to go on the topping OP. I might go ahead and start tying that thing down tho. It might do better trained. I dunno tho. Happy new year and let's all vote peace and love in 2016.

And as soon as I could with the new growth I would top it again for 4 main colas. I also top or FIM side shoots if I am doing a SCROG or LST and I am not going to use them for clones. You can always snip them later if they stay suckers. You can totally shape a plant by topping the whole thing.

If you do it until you feel that "snap" without shearing it off a callous will form quickly. It seems to help new growth as the plant repairs it. I'm sure YOU know this but for newer growers info. I always do this or use a SCROG to make the most of the lights I am using.

It forms a hell of a knuckle and along the stem the buds start growing verticle to the light source ,adding several nice size colas at harvest

One of the biggest buds I ever got was from a LST plant's lowest branch that a ferret had attacked. It grew all funky and chunky and long as hell. It was like it had been expertly FIMMED. Better than the top colas in fact. Now I always keep hoping . . . ..

These strange looking rats had short tails with hair that parted down the middleToo early to FIMM.
It's old enough to top, question is why? Mostly I top that young when the seedling is scrawny or has too much distance between leaves (aka "inter-nodal distance") . Your plant looks vigorous and promises a bushy shape. Why would you top that? Only reason I see to top is to wait until the plant is 6 weeks in dirt, then take the top 6-8 inches as a crown clone. Any topping before mom is 6 weeks will probably not root as a clone. So, I would wait to take a killer clone.

I've heard people say it's fine to top as soon as the fourth or fifth node. I'm no expert, but your plant looks like it has some pretty tight nodes. It'll probably be pretty bushy as is.
