hey, i got 5 42w cfls on top of my plant and i put a cfl under the plant where its bending over and it's 2 inches from touching anything so it's safe from bulb burn

my question is, since it's tied over trained, will this confuse the plant and will it lose it's sense of where "up" is because theres light under it as well?

reason i did that obviously would be to get light directly under it where no leaves are blocking budsites

I dont think it will get confused in a sense. but on the other hand I think it may, why would you want to do this anyway?
plants seem to not only follow light, but gravity as well, so I think it will still know what's up, but some leaves and branches might turn upsidedown, but I'm not sure as its not much light.
of course, I could be completely wrong, just me speculating.

Yeah i dont think you should because the plant does follow the light and you dont want to take any chances. What kind of light are you thinking of putting under there?

what is tempting you to do so?
I have a friend who grows with CFL's and he keps a few midplant, dosnt seem to bother the top half and it helps the lower ones, but under the plant?

well not exactly under it..i cant take a pic atm cuz it's asleep but i did an MS paint picture that may help you understand a bit better

i tied over my plant, and where its making the arch im able to stick my light under and make it real nice and bright..which im hoping will get the shady budsites nice and lit up..

theres nothing wrong with doing that , its one of the advantages of using LST ......more light to the lower bud sites ....... just be carefull not to burn anything , but thats the trick with using cfls ...constant 'tweeking ' of the bulbs and plants , some people enjoy it , some people hate it .

i could see a problem if all your light was underneath but one bulb like that can only help the lower and shaded bud sites .

im impressed with all the detail you put into the picture.. paint ftw lol

i like the idea, the first time i heard of the sea of green, a friend told me that years back he had a grow where he used the sea of green, and he had lights both on top and bottom of the sea, he he said it gave almost dubble yeild. but that was sittin around smokin one, so who knows if what he was feeding me was b.s.
i say go for it, but keep a close eye on it.

keep up the good work and great paintings
