If the ballast will operate the bulb u shouldn't have a problem. Id suggest getting a air cooled hod or cool tube though. What's your space looking like? How many tou trying to grow? Genetics? A lot of factors to grow right but we need more info. The light will work if that's all u want to know.

A mercury vapor ballast will run a metal halide bulb of the same wattage.

Oh that was a Mv ? Thw video didn't show crap realy. And u can grow with a vapor but its no where near as effective. Snaps don't bite my head off o great one t out advice is golden lol. You know anything about northern lights snaps? Don't wanna mess em up

Mercury Vapor is just a guess. I figure its not a quartz halogen or he wouldn't even ask since bulbs don't interchange. If it was a HPS then again no question really right. I agree, bad video.
I grew some NL back in the 90's.

Theres plenty of great smoke coming from metal halide, some say better quality with MH than HPS but at a loss in yield.
