can i grow the seed right out of hydroton, and DWC Airspace question

hey guys im just curious if after i have let the seed soak in water for 24 hours prior to planting if i can just throw it in my hydroton and wait for it to sprout?

Second question is if you check out my DWC bubbler you see that there is no airspace between the water and the styrofoam (whihc has 4 netted pots). Is this okay for growing as long as the bubbles just pop on the top of the hydroton - which is where i would throw the seed? Thanks i dont want to overwater my system even though i hav mad bubbles going

also i tehse pics were taken when the net pots were filled with perilite, i have recently switched to 100% hydroton. thank

NO.... But try with your cheap seeds.

you need alot more bubbles than that.... i tried all of the rocks and found that the small nipple type is best.... place one under each basket... get those t connectors so you can make channels to each pot...

just check out my grow for allot of good info of DWC and .... a disease that is easy to get in DWC when you dont know any better.

check it out this is after i added mroe bubbles, does this look right? and can i now just place the seed on the hydroton to grow, or what would be my best approach to getting my hydro system started (now that my seed has been soaked for 24 hours)

also as you can see i just took my new air pump and got those T's that split the air, anyways i just put the air pump line straight throught my net pots so that the bubbles are litterally popping up right underneath my netpots is that cool?

I dont know man... ive never seen anyone trying to grow a seed on top of thos little rocks.. I mean.. your supposed to put the seed in rockwool... then put the rockwool on top of those pebbles and fill in the rest with more pebbles.... the grow rocks i wouldnt pass through the nets.... I would make a whole on the lid and pass the line through there.... then you can tin foil tape the lines downt o the bottom under each basket... you want the bubbles to go through the roots when they are growing.... trust me man.. these net pots is more like an anchor... under the pots it will grow alllot of roots....

IM oisting these pics here so you can get a better idea.... but you should really just read my grow journal... it has allot of information there man... i break everything down....






these pics i took just to show people how there are made.... you should use a bucket that has been painted as any light int your water will grow bacteria and slime... but you should get the jist from these pics..

My situation is similar to yours but not quite the same so I will explain what I did.

-I germinated my seeds in a paper towel until they grew small tails. [ 24 - 36 hrs ]
-I planted them in soil for 2 or three days. Just long enough for the roots grew about 2 or 3 inches.
-Then I took them out of soil and into a home made bubble system. Using perlite as the media and distilled water.
-Now all I've done is handwater and the roots have grown into the water and my plants have exploded in growth.

If you want to start from seed I'd suggest using rockwool.

okay so i should probably take the line out of the netpots, and im going to germinate teh seeds in soil first. But if you looked at my video, (1)does my system look like it has enough bubbles right now? thanks


also in your pictures you showed me it looks liek you have a ton of the small air stone things that sell for like 75 cents each...(2)how did you get enough power on an air pump to do that? Im running a 30-60 gallon pump and a 40 gallon pump simultaneasouly. Also the net pots in my tank are only 1/2" deeper than the styrofoam floats, so i have my tank filled up to the styrofoam with water so it basically sits in water, but the hydroton(my medium) sits high enough where it just splashes if you look at the video - (3)is that good?

Also i have teh tank surrounded light tight with aluminum foil. (4)It looks like in your pictures that you put the airstone directly into the bottom of the netpot is that true or was it sitting right underneath it?

okay i understand, i went and bought the rockwool yesterday. My real question remains still do i have enough bubbles in my pots - if you look @ the video you should b able to tell. thanks
