Can I drain dehumidifier water into hydro reservoir?

I have a 30 pint Dayton dehumidifier removing moisture from a 10 x 10 room. I usually have to empty it out two to three times a day! It has an automatic drain option however I dont have anywhere to drain it.

Can I drain the water directly into my reservoir?

What might the consequences be?

I know you can drain it into soil.

That means draining water contaimianted with anything that is in the room air into the reservoir. I would not recommend that you do so.

I would say he is mostly correct.

Contaminates will stick to moisture. You don't want that in your res...

Do you have any idea what those tests would cost?

have you ever seen the dirt that comes out of the air when using an air purifier??? ew... lol.... i wouldnt suggest putting that water into your res... why not get yourself a large $10 rubbermaid from walmart.... drain into that and empty that every couple days? (of course keep a lid on it so it does not evaporate again lol)

i would recommend using it for doing laundry, I read something about the copper coils in it making the water not suitable for hydro.

I drain it back into mine

I add mine into my res depending on certain aspects. PH can matter along with your little to no minerals in the water pulled from the air so keep an eye out for deficiencies. Been using plain tap water de-chlorinated when i need to bring the ph up a little and add the dehumidifier water if PH levels are within range. Ive been doing this set up for over a year in a fogponics set up and works great and no need to add PH-up or down. Add some cal-mag and hydro nutes and these girls have some good looks to them.

I just wanted to add some info I recently ran into. Just bro science. But dehuey water can be used as distilled water...but should be treated with H2O2 to prevent infection. Seems like a sketchy idea to me.

There can be a chance of bacteria but outside of keeping everything nice and clean im also using ultrasonic foggers that help elemenate some of the nastier things that might have been captured. Also if smoking in the same area as the water is collected can contaminate even further. If using in a dwc i would try to avoid it. Best way to know for sure is to test it out on a seperate plant and see if it effects it in any way. I have yet to have an issue with using it but also have a totally different setup.

But seeings you did, I drain my dehuey straight into my rez. If you are in hydro and sterile then its a no brainer. Got a good chuckle out of the original posts though - "contaminated with spores" hahaha gotta love it.

There are many variables that come into play. Coil type, Lead solder, copper, anything that comes into contact with the condensation. It can be a slippery slope. I prefer not to use my dehumidifier water in my comercial op. I pump it outside. I would try to avoid it or dilute it if possible.

Will be draining mine back into the reservoir, it makes sense as long as its monitored (edit: note... only two plants in a micro grow
