Can an airpot get root bound?

I've had some plants in 15ltr airpots in coco for about 6 weeks and roots are coming out of the bottom thick and fast, is it root bound? Cause I want to flip to flower and don't really fancy repotting.

Cheers.

As long as it's not wilting then I think its normal. I had roots coming from the bottom holes in my buckets during flower and everything was fine. But to answer the question, I dont think they can get rootbound in fabric pots. I just did a grow in smartpots and when I uprooted the plant after harvest I didnt see any root circling....Hope that answered your question

Cheers for the reply man. I'm still not sure weather they're root bound, would be nice to hear off someone who's used them before.

Cheers.

no , but your plant will only grow so big , due to selfpruning roots.

the old roots coming out of the sides are the ones which WOULD cause root bound ...... The airpots selfprune the roots ( due to air)....... So no they wont root bound, they just wont get any bigger :)

good luck:)

Of course they can get root bound, idk where these guys heads are. As the roots hit the outside of the pot the get airpruned causing the root to split into multiple new roots, that's why these types of pot usually have much denser, fine root structures compared to a bucket grow. Any container can get rootbound if the plant is allowed to grow to big/long. I don't think you'll have an issue in flower, many people run complete cycles in pots that size, might just need to keep up on watering, if there is a large root mass it will drink and dry up quickly.

You place the bottom of the pot too low , remember the instructions? Well , I ignored that too and tell u what , Same thing here , the only difference is that I am doing ebb and flow and the roots are on a journey, I guess I gotta cover them with black cover...wow this post is too old...

1 plant in a 1 liter air pot since October 9th. Not showing any signs of root circling or being "root bound". Plant growing very slowly as far as fan leaves and branching but stem has kept pace with any other plant I've grown in soil at this stage(still in veg). Hope that helps.

I use 10 liter airpots and eventually, roots will come out of the bottom but never the sides. I suspect its maybe watering, but I don't know...any ideas anyone?
