Can A Psychologist Prescribe?

Well, I hate my doctor and in Canada since health care is free we seem to have a shortage of doctors and switching up isn't an option when many people do not even have a family doctor they have to go to the clinic to receive treatment.

The reason I ask if a psychologist can prescribe is because i will have a easier time explaining to a "head doctor" why i need MMJ.

Does anyone know? Any help would be great.
Thanks:leaf:

I'm not sure what the laws in Canada are, but I'm pretty sure that only psychiatrists can prescribe drugs. From what I was able to find on google, some states here in the US allow psychologists to prescribe, but they have to go through additional training to be allowed to do it. And some psychiatrists think they shouldn't be allowed at all because the training required isn't extensive enough...

So in short, I'm not sure, but I don't THINK so. You can always ask.

Psychologists are different from psychiatrists, pretty much only by some degree. Psychiatrists are the diagnosers and prescribers though

this is what I am wanting to know. As far as i know Psychologists can't prescribe normal Rx meds but psychiatrists can. The thing is, in Canada you need your doctor for a referrel to see a psychiatrist, and as I said I hate my doc. They are so horribly underpaid by the government that they treat us all like second class citizens, and not many doctors will "risk" their practice for a second class citizen. I did actually try to get my papers signed from him[my doc] but he flat out refused feeding me a bullshit line you would expect from a conservative doctor in small-town-butt-fuck-nowhere.
I'm sure if I had a few sessions with someone who understood the brain a little better they would realize that I do in fact NEED marijuana. Not in a medicinal way but a "therapeutic way". Some people take lithium or MAOI's, I use marijuana.
I have been using Marijuana very frequently over some years now and I can say, the only danger of Marijuana is if you smoke all the plant instead of just the active chemicals. I suggest a good vap or some honey oil, bubble hash or pressed kif :)

So back to the topic :)
I was hoping by chance it was different for MMJ as the process for getting it differs from that of normal pharmaceutical meds.

With that answered, I have a second question.

If psychiatrists can prescribe "normal" meds in Canada will they be able to sign my MMJ papers? It would stand to reason they can but I just want to make sure. I am really fucking nervous after being shot down by my doc and being made to look a fool.

Any help would be great
