The numbers 20,23,30,35,40 stand for temp. They found canopy temps of 30C give the most photosynthesis by quite a way. As soon as I saw that I increased my room AC temp from 22C to 26C. That gives me air around 30-32C on the canopy and leaf temps of 29-30C (checked with my FLIR camera).

According to their paper 1500ppfd and 30C give the most photosynthesis even without CO2. All this "you need CO2 to run 30C" stuff is probably bro science.

Thanks for all the great info. Previously I did see that thread actually. Helped me choose the KB80's.

I found a calculator by bggrass. Assuming this is accurate, if we want to shoot for 800+ ppfd it says I can turn up the amps to about 1050mA for about 880ppfd. I can try this and lookout for light burn.

Any tips of knowing when too much is too much?
Everyone has different experiences and environments when too much light is present. From setups, to types of plants, to ventilation and humidity levels. Some people say that minimum of 24" is a must with LED, while some people like me have found that 8" is from the tops is not too far (I usually run 8-16" depending upon canopy level). When I was blasting 1000 PPFD (600w) in a 4x4, I had the light about 12" from the canopy level and had no issues. Others report light bleaching (or so they claim). Find what works for you.

Alright I've decided to try out 1050mA. Just turned it up a couple hrs ago.

Can anyone tell me what the max heatsink temp I can have? I'm not sure that a thermometer on heatsink reading is very accurate but it showed 100-120F dependent on location.

Note: I have the black case fan disconnected still. My tent could use a little more heat so I wouldn't mind running it this way if it's a safe temp for the heatsink.

The heatsink can run upto melting point without any real issues... Then it'd melt away! 120f is nothing to worry about.

The COBs themselves will prefer a temp under 85C but you can run them a little higher. 105C is still safe but I wouldn't want to run them above that personally.
