As you may have heard, it does not appear that we were able to collect enough signatures to qualify for the November 2014 ballot during our signature gathering campaign that is now drawing to a close.

We are about to launch a pledge drive to solicit funding from cannabis-related businesses that stand to benefit from cannabis legalization. We have set a minimum goal of $750,000 in pledges that we need to raise before March 16th when signature gathering begins before we move forward collecting the pledged funds; if we can't secure that amount in pledges, we will have no choice but to abandon our efforts this year. This amount is the bare minimum that we'll need to in order to conduct a successful paid signature gathering effort. However, our main goal is to reach $1 million in donations by the beginning of the signature gathering period on the 16th, with a stretch goal of $1.5 million as soon as possible after that. This stretch goal would enable us to pay more per signature and collect more of them, which would greatly improve our chances of qualifying for the ballot. To make this campaign successful, we need large dollar donations to our campaign ($1,000 and up). We especially want to encourage donors to contribute $5,000 or more if they are in a position to do so, in order to reach our goals as quickly as possible.

is that what ppl r asking for signatures about? this guy outside of target asked me for my signature asked if i believed ppl still should go to jail for ten years for a joint. first of all dummy nobody goes to JAIL for ten years thats prison. Second nobody goes to jail for a joint in CA unless they r on parole or probation. the ppl behind legalization need to get better signature takers not idiots who dress and act like they just woke up off the couch.

Today was the deadline. But now they are doing something they are calling "phase two" which I really don't understand and am highly skeptical of.

They say:



If the signature deadline today then wtf are they doing raising money still and what are they talking about when they say "March 16th when signature gathering begins". I don't know what that means. If they deadline to have signatures was today, what is the March 16th date?

I'm confused. But also it's a little late to start that kind of fund raising drive.

MLCR hasn't been making any announcements however they have until June 30th to gather sigs, so I like their chances better. However if I had to bet I'd say legalization doesn't make the ballot at all.
