He doesnt sound ignorant at all. He sounds like someone that will continue doing what he believes in, no matter the laws or other forces.
yeah but that is very selfish to chose to do something illegal and risk your kids at the same time. how do you think the kids feel? they have no say in this. yeah its bullshit the kids got taken away but people growing illegally know the risks. if someone plans on living life and not follow the law, they shouldnt have kids. they will remember this for the rest of their lives. its not his fault what his kid did but it is his fault for choosing to do something illegal. sure it wasnt right of the cops but it wasnt right of him to break the law either. to be honest i hate a lot of laws. i break them all the time. but i also dont have kids to support or others that look up to me. whats worse is a lot of people who have kids use that as a crutch anytime something goes wrong. not trying to be a dick or confrontational, just saying, and a court judge will probably tell you something along the same lines. i do wish the best for the dude here. even though it's not right and i dont agree with the cops, this is a good lesson and example of anyone else that has kids and does illegal activity.

its honestly not as bad as it was a week ago. even with a guilty plea, this is my first offense, the pre trial people are writing great reports about me, dhs is writing good things about me, my wife is talking to everyone that has the power to put me back in jail, and even they are writing good things about me. chances are good for no huge fines, a slap on the wrist, minimal probation, and i might even get to keep my green card. i might just let the cops keep my light, so it doesnt seem like growing weed is a priority for me (besides, a 600 watt set up is like 350 anyways, easily replacable) and i could be legally growing again by this time next year, no prob. my kids are very young, if anything dhs is getting them more care now than we could working a combined 110 hours a work week, so they are benifiting from this as well. no harm, no foul. i just have to make sure this never happens again and i can walk away from this with a mighty lesson learned. also, weed nerd, watch out for them roofies them pedo's drop in the candy come halloween. albert fish might just grab that little kid of yours lololol

yeah for sure. it was childish, but i just kind of snapped. im not a spot light kind of person and ive been through a lot in the past 2 weeks. jail was intense, losing my children was intense, so nuch that im not even pissed about the 3 months of growing i lost out on, or the year of not smoking i wont be doing. again, i believe everything happens for a reason and everything serves a purpose. i will grow again, even if the green card is in my wife's name. ill just make sure my ducks are in a row first before seed even touches dirt.

lol, nobody on here is high profile enough for the fbi to trace. if you are this sketch about someone tracing you then you probably shouldnt post on riu, for your own sanity

does anyone know if i am convicted for any of these crimes if i am effectively and perminantly banned from ever visiting and or moving to canada?

actually, canada has pretty open restrion policies that is public knowledge. id rather find out the answer to THAT perticular question here than to scare my lawyer in thinking that i might flee to canada, if you know what i mean. im just starting to think america sucks and how much nicer canadas marijuana laws are

A fellow oregonian, sorry to hear about your bust.
They cannot claim to be clearing the residence for the return of a lost child, let alone "unlock" any doors to see what is behind it. Your attorney should be able to have those charges thrown out for the lack of probably cause. You also have a medicinal card

Also you might be able to get a civil suit for breaking and entering as well as trauma cause to you and your wife as well as children. Id say after the case ask your attorney about this. Otherwise I'm sure you can find a reporter at a court house who would be more than willing to put a story about how police entered your house picked a lock, arrested you then took your children from you.

you'd be surprised. a friend of mine, no one thought he was high profile either. he got picked up on federal charges for selling weed years ago which involved the dea, atf, and even us marshals. scared me straight and i myself have been following state law ever since. i still break other minor laws though like go thru red lights when no other vehicles are coming, speeding, assault people that steal from my friends and i, malicious destruction of property to ppl who dont pay their bills. never been in trouble once except a speeding ticket.

yeah, ive considered taking this to the oregonian, but in light of how long the settlement came in for the wrongful death of that chasse guy, im not sure if 20,000 would be worth it. i think his family only got 1.6 mill, which seems awfully low for a wrongful death, but i guess you would be surprised. im hoping to get most of these charges dropped, but i am unsure of if that happens before i go to trial or not. i think if i had to face a jury of stupid people who know next to nothing about prohibition and amendments, i might have a hard time convincing them of my innocents, thus prompting the judge to throw the proverbial book at me. my first real day in court is dec 6 so we'll see what happens. my first face 2 face with my lawyer is on tuesday, so ill update this thread with new info that night. if anything, this has prompted me to become an activist on the cruelties of prohibition and i am looking into starting up a website to further spread the awareness of what is wrong with the prohibition of marijuana and how the state and federal penalties far out weigh the supposed crime.

The law you violated has nothing to do with prohibition. You live in a state where you can legally grow, if you took the time to get the card. It was your own fault, bro. Plain and simple. Get off your soap box already.

judging by the similar story about how you "beat the cops". you're a dumbass.

1. watch your fucking kid.
2. should have got your fucking card after the first incident.

Honestly, I feel bad for anyone who goes to jail for growing a plant, but you kinda had it coming to you. You can legally grow but you didn't get a card until AFTER you get caught? Seriously? If I could grow here legally I be the first in line to get a mmj card.

Nevertheless best of luck to you. I have a son and I'd hate to see some shit like that happen. Seems like the best thing you have going is the fact that they illegally picked the lock on your grow door without obtaining a search warrant first. You could go as far to prove how the "smell" they smelled was a lie by providing information about your filtration setup...

Also, for future instances. put a lock at the very very top of the door. Most doors are 6'8" tall and I doubt a child can reach that even if they stand on a chair. That's what I have on my room and house door. He can undo the deadbolt but he can't reach the latch at the top.

They had every right to search the home... front door was wide open, kid was in a parking lot... there's no reason they shouldn't have investigated. Just imagine if your kid went missing due to some foul play, and the police DIDN'T search the home... I don't like cops or prohibition laws anymore than you guys do, but I still have to play the fucking game....

You have a point... I guess that's why you want no light leaks eh? Although whomever was in charge of the child failed big time. Even though it was 100% their fault I still feel bad for the children and what they have to go through because of someones fuck up.

nerd, just give up. im already beating my case on the grounds of illegal search and seizure. i have the police reports, 3 different reports dont even mention them knocking or verifying our son was even ours, they just came in. my lawyer is completely convinced he can have all but one charge dropped, and that last charge will be easy to deal with. get over it, i won. also, i hate this mmj card. i will NEVER pay for one again. as far as i am concerned, unless you are dying of brain tumors, nobody should have this card. everyone that hides behind this peice of paper to hide their recreational use is a cowerd and not a soldier for the fight of prohibition. mmj cards are a cop out guilty plea that people use to justufy the means. it is an abused system that further stagnates and alienates prohibition, as now the sides are split between recreational use and medical use. defend yourselves all you want to, but you are still no more a criminal than i am. a plant is a plant and it should never put a man in jail. i will proudly take possession of marijuana charges in the future until marijuana is legalized or totally decriminalized in every state. i have found my life calling and that is all there is to it. one peice of paper should NOT make the difference between child endangerment and manufacturing. that is completely corperate bred bullshit. i sincerely hope people that ABUSE this system (you know who you are) get fucked in the end. oh and nerd, get fucked, i win you douche.
