Burlap question

Just wondering, i've been researching the burlap bag growing method. i plan on purchasing some burlap and making my own homemade bags and filling them with top of the line soils and water retaining crystals. Althought what information I have found has stated that its a very effective way to grow by simply filling the bag, letting it sit for a bit in its location and then come back, cut a slit in the bag and transplant into sack. Most posts i've read mention mostly swamp grows and people say theyre is only mybe one watering needed per season. I find that kinda hard to believe with burlap having so much aeration and tiny holes to let air through although the material does retain water pretty well, wouldn't it dry out easily? Would I be wasting my time trying this method? Its something I just cant find enough information on and my area is not swampy. Can this be used in thickets and brush instead of swamps? I wanna know all I can about this method as my season usually starts in april. Thanks

You need to do something like this.burlap 1.jpg

Uless you are in the swamps where water wicks up into the bag, you will have to periodically water them like any other grow. Use heavy sticks and stone to build a dam around the bag to prevent skunks from digging into the bag to get the roots they can smell. Insects are also a problem because they can find shelter and food at the same time in a protected place. You should place a plastic trash bag under the bag first, to give a layer of protection to the bottom, that`s where most bugs will stay and enter. It will also keep weeds from trying to come up through as well.

Growing in bags is a hands on tecnique and you will get ideas and tricks as you go along. There are too many variables with terrain and climate to get advice from people because your number one rule is to keep secret. No cell phones, leave it at home, not your car nearby.

Cannabis can go quite some time without watering, it`s a dry climate high temp ground clutter weed. STRAINS will have to be cared for accordingly for they are not wild and more trained. Brush fires and smoke damage from close fires are a risk you have to take. Torrential rains and prolonged rains will drain out. It`s a successful system and you can get proven results as long as you prepare and maintain good gardening craft.

Planting from seed leaves you valnerable to birds and other seed eaters, I suggest you use egg cartons to start sprouts and then cut the container up and burry the sprout in the little biodegradable egg container, or use the kind of potters found in the stores !! You can do this at home and carry the light load to transfere them later.

Always work at night. By day you can check up on them from afar with good field glasses.

Growing in bags is a proven system and you can get what you put into it. Knuckle them over if there is alot of people or air traffic around. (there`s a sticky on that somewhere here)

Good luck and keep updated, take pics. as to not give away location.

Or you can just bust me later if you really are ATF !!

Oh,..when the surrounding grasses and weeds get tall,..cut them down a bit , keep horizon to horizon pretty clear but don`t ruin you cammo !!

The bag thing can be done anywhere, even on the side of a rocky cliff. I prefer just driving along a long country road and just set them in outta site of the road. Avoid power lines and other reasons why people would go to the spots you choose. I used plastic bags because they sweat and catch the morning dew. I punch many holes in the bottom of the plastic bag before I set them down and they work essentially like a plant pot. The nice thing about using bags compared to plant pots is if they have to be moved quikly it can be done easily. also a bunch of empty bags is a lot less incriminating than a bunch of plant pots. I don't recommend that you keep any of the leftover materials used in your grow on your property. I keep everything nessesary to tend the plants stashed on location after the grow is in progress. I would suggest using two gallon bags and attach handles in case they have to be moved. This way you can carry three or four at a time. With me the shopping bags come with handles for carrying. I feel that if you cover your burlap with last years leaves you won't have to water that often.

Don't cut the surrounding veg down. Cops look for the perfectly round shape (when seen from above) and the color to ID pot from the air. If your intended grow area cannot be seen at all from the air there probably is not enough sun to grow decent plants there anyway.

That`s right,..don`t clear them out,..just keep them lower because most ragweed grows quicker. Top them off !!
