without letting the chlorine evaporate. which would be a very huge problem.
You'd be surprised how the roots grow. they usually go straight to the bottom of the pot and aroudn the edges before really propogating throughout the container.
How tall are your pots? You are waiting until everything in the pot is dry except the bottom inch before you water or did I misread that? If I didn't misread it I think I found your problem.
cypher: yeah don't give up yet, let your water stand, luckily i curiously checked the ph of my fresh from the tap and saw it was 8.0+, if i didnt do that i wouldnt have caught on to the fact that you probobly didnt let your water stand. hopefully this WAS the reason for you're plants demise, try again and let us know.
i'm thinking about your soil. you said after there is two leaves it dies.

Ph = ???? what can I use to lower that will the pool Ph (-) work or is there a hort. Ph down mix?
