Buds looking normal? First grow!

Interesting. Wish I could grow a few more plants to test that out.
That's what clones are for. Clone your plants before you flower to preserve those genetics. If it's a great giver, keep it going with clones. If it sucks, smoke it up and scrap the clones.

Yeah, I just mean so I have something to compare them to. I guess I have been smoking for over a decade now so I guess there's that lol

Hey guys .
Just wanted some opinions.
I'm week 6.5. And not sure how I am doing . Let me know . If this is in the wrong place let me know .
65 days is the shortest in there to a 75+.
Can't tell under that light. If you can get those pics under natural light, I may be able to tell you.

Do you think I should cut the two big leaves off? Or would that shock/kill it?

Also, how can I get humidity up in there? It’s just a 1.5 by 1 foot wooden box with a couple of CFLs in there, and a small exhaust fan. Thanks

Just clip the tips off, not the whole leaf. That'll accomplish what you want while leaving solar panels intact for more vigorous growth when they root.

Mist it and leave the fan off for a while. I use a fogger in my box. $3-$5 on Amazon. In a bowl of water on a short cycle timer.

The brown spots are more towards the center of the leaf... tips are actually OK lol

And the fan is just hooked up to a temperature controller (fan comes on at 75F). I don't want to bake them, it will get super hot in there without it, but I could turn the temp up?

I see the brown, no worries. You can clip them or leave them. Doesn't look very wilted, so it'll be fine either way.

If it's on a thermostat, just lightly mist them and as long as it's not running all the time, humidity will rise.

What do you use to check the trichromes? I bought this microscope on amazon, but it’s hard to keep it steady for a clear picture.

Here’s what I got from it... just not sure I'll be able to get a clear enough image.

I don't really check trichs. Sometimes just for fun, but that's not how I decide when to chop. I use a 30x loupe.

What your using works fine. You can see the trichs fairly well.

How do you decide when to chop? I thought it was based on milky/amber trichromes

I go by the buds and plants themselves. Pistils recede, calyxes/bracts swell hard, plant stops drinking, etc.

You can do it however you like. Many people use trichs with success I guess. I've also seen quite a few chop early due to amber trichs and lose weight and density. So, it's a crapshoot I suppose.

Good to know, what do you recommend for my first time? I’m sure I’ll get a hang of it after a few grows, but for now I am a bit clueless!

Maybe a combo of both? If your buds are good and the plant is telling you it's ready, the trichs should be in the ballpark.

I should also probably say I’m using 5 gallon pots, except the small(8 inch diameter) pot in the center. The purple container is filled weekly with yeast/sugar/water during flowering for extra co2.
Can you explain the sugar water yeast concept to me for extra CO2 would
Love to get onboard

It’s just a cheap way to add some Co2 without getting into an expensive system.

I mix up a ratio of about 3 cups of sugar, 2 tablespoons of dried activated yeast, and then fill the container about halfway with water. Shake it up, and put in your tent. You can also shake every day or two to increase the effects. I replace
Mine every week or two during flowering.

Will cost you maybe $5 per grow. Another option is the exhale co2 bags, although they are a bit more expensive.

P.S: It also helps cover up the smell pretty well!

Nope, I change it up every week to two weeks though. Haven’t had any issues so far. Only my first grow though, I stole this idea from another forum lol!

Thought I’d do a quick update...

Starting with the Green Crack in the small pot...

Then the big girls... OG Kush/Amnesia Haze...

Crown Royale(Purple Kush x Blueberry)...

White Widow...

And the other Green Crack...

The Green Crack smells the strongest, and it’s buds look the most developed, but the Crown Royale smells the best so far. Very exciting stuff!

P.S: These were taken just past the 6 week mark (about 5 weeks from first flower). Flowering times are 8 weeks for White Widow, 9 for crown Royale, and 9-10 for the OG and Green Crack.
