Girls in the flower table are recovering nicely

I pollinated the lowers of B Witched, the calyxes seem to be swelling so, success? Will be nice to have f2's on hand in case I lose my keeper cut.

bw924.jpg Anyone like cajun food? Had a crawfish boil the other day, took the crustacean remnants and dried them in the grill.
crawfish1.jpg Smash it all up and added to my amendment bucket for the next top dressing.

The 5 Dark Helmet baby's are at various stages of going from seedling, to plant.
I decided to stick my toe in the water with this UVB thing. I did a bunch of reading and came up with a couple theories.
Not much is needed.
The bulbs used to keep peoples pet reptiles alive work, or there'd be a lot of pissed off lizard fans putting them on blast.
I went with the reviews from that community and then picked up a little 13w bulb, meant for a MUCH smaller space than it will be in. Cut up an old desk lamp, attached it to the legs from a drummers stool, and we're off.

Gratuitous bud shot of the Witch. Seems there is a slight mite issue, interestingly enough, they are only on leaves damaged by pm. Most of that has been removed now and cucumeris should be arriving today so we'll see if they stick around.

Witch babies are getting into "plant" phase. Nice to be out of that first week of fragile seedling angst.

A ladybug must have made the trip in from the greenhouse at some point. Welcome, lil friend8)

I gave a Dancehall her probably last "topping" treatment. What I do is remove the tips of the leaves where the growth hormone is located. This causes the plant to react as if it was topped, but leaves the central trunk intact to resume growth once it heals. I feel this creates a plant whose structure is a lot stronger while still bushing out the plant into a nice shape with a flat topped canopy. This will get managed during stretch, until buds are forming.

Kids are doing well, top dressed with some ewc.

DanceGasm. As the side branches reach the centers height, The fan leaves get a snip. About 1/3 to 1/2 from the stem seems to do the trick.

snip930.jpg DanceGasm in the flower tent. I seeded a lower on this with male pollen from BWitched. Witches dancing equals Sabbath? Not sure what to call the result.

Dark Helmet babies chugging along. The little one was kinda coming up sideways and is now starting to orient up. Won't be long till training begins.
930dh.jpg So I took this pic to show how much leaf to remove in my topping without topping method. (I'm sure there are others doing it this way, but don't know of a name of the technique) You can see how it stunted some of the leaves, and others had enough hormones remaining to continue to elongate. I clean this up as well as applying the same haircut to the emerging side branches as they reach the desired canopy height.

The witch doesn't lie. Sold on the reptile bulbs uvb, I'll gradually start to incorporate a real plan beyond this test bulb over the next few months. These plants are from my aborted outdoor that got hit with pm and then mites. All in recovery and I'll still get fire, just less. The witch isn't leaning under bud weight, she's wanting that light. Think I'm starting to see more frost on areas closer to it, early to state that definitively but we'll see how they develop.IMG_20181003_162338113_HDR.jpg

Is that bed underneath?, are you letting the roots grow thru...? amazing defol, thats alot of work
Yes, it is maturing during this flower run. Aeropots will be used in the future, slightly larger than the veg pots I'm using so transplanting into a no till environment will be easy and the roots will be allowed to free roam the bed and network. I'll try to remember to take a pic of those but they'll be coming into play for the DH flower run. Thinking to add another 6' of soil depth as well. Maybe 12:bigjoint:
Half the defol was me, half was the plants shedding unwanted damaged leaf. The fact the flowers are going strong is testimony to where their heads are at right now and how tough they are. When we got the cold wet spell the greenhouse went to shit and these plants took the brunt. Something to consider for next year. Part of the problem was the greenhouse is aging poorly and the plastic needs replaced. Was a cheap thing that got modified and rebuilt many times. A new hoop house build is in the works with new film to cover it.
It'll be interesting to see how i do with the dh run, having things established really helps with organics and the fact that I just uprooted and moved it all creates a variable. Time will tell.

Babies looking good. Top dressed with ewc, rock dust and kelp meal. The one on top right is a gorilla cookies cut that is going to be a pollen receptor for whichever male looks nice.

Gratuitous bud shot. Dancegasm (Getting photobombed by the witch) is looking very promising, still no idea about smells but I dig the trich development.

Frosty !!! how far along are they ?...........luv the new sig
Honestly I have no idea as far as day count, they've got weeks to go. Dancegasm has been slow to develop, will be interesting to see how long she goes. I'm getting more confident calling it that instead of Dancehall, as it does not resemble the mom from what I've seen of that strain.
The sig, so much trolling and peen measurement from fake "Experts" here. On the flip side there are a lot of very real people who are into advancing the knowledge pool.
I'm retired now, combat vet, no thanks needed, I got paid. Army is a bs fest overall but infantry is a serious thing and has a low tolerance for phonies. Phonies get people dead. Nothing on RIU is that level of important but when I get a whiff of BS the Dedicated Infantry Combat Killer (DICK) aspect of my personality comes out. Man, you've never seen me angry like I got when I caught another NCO training MY soldiers incorrectly because they didn't want to admit the didn't know. Bit of a pet peeve lol.

That’s a good pet peeve to have! You’re trying to keep your people/plants alive, bad/wrong advice can kill. At the end of the day you’re responsible for them, nobody else.
