Budding in veg?

I just noticed this! I noticed this plant that is under a T5 seems to be budding! Am I seeing this correctly? How did this happen? They are under 18/6 and this one may not have been the most direct light, but they were all under it.

If this is indeed buds, could it reversed? Do they need more light? Could this be a male plant?

Oh gees! Do you mean this could contaminate the other plants? Should I foliar them down with water or something to make sure they don't produce seeds now? If this is what it is, should I pitch it?

It looks kind of like the picture in the link you have. You can see what looks like crystals on the stems… you can see it in the pictures if you look real close. That's why I thought it was flowering… Is that male pollen I could be seeing? they couldn't be flowering from being too far in the shade or something could they?

Thanks again! I'm totally scared of male plants! Never saw one before!

I didn't see any Ball's!....How far is that light from the plants, I noticed that they looked kinda lanky from not enough light.
One pic looked like pre-sex pestles...but the other (bad) pic looked kinda like the start of some buds...could it have Auto tendencies?

First off, thanks for the help! I don't see any balls under them. Here are some better pictures so you can see them.

Dirtpower - I put them under stronger light and switched them to 24… If there are no balls under them does that mean that they are not male or pollenating? Do I have to worry about other plants becoming contaminated?

If this is a light issue that caused them to flower, is it too late to reverse? How do you reverse it if that's the case?

What are Auto tendencies?

hey! do you know what strains you got goin? Autoflowering means the plant automatically switches from veg to flower with age. instead of the typical photo period strains which are triggered by the light change.

Yea this particular one is Quantum Kush I believe. Damn man! What do I do if this is an auto flower strain? Is it possible the other plants that I have that are the same strain won't auto flower too? Also, if these things are budding right now what am I supposed to do? Not expecting this one!!!

Ive had this issue with green crack and that was just a regular seed. Went good for 2 rounds and I had the same thing happen. I just ended up throwing mine out that did that because it wasn't growing, veg wise, and it wasn't converting back to veg at all. Not sure if its a sign of an instability in the genetic, possibly caused from a stress of some sort.

If it's gonna set bud, let it do it's thing, it won't affect the other plants in any way.

First things first; chill. If it doesn't have "balls" you're okay. There is no chance that it could pollinate your other plants. To me it just seems like its an autoflowering plant. Is this your only plant? Are your other plants doing the same thing? If you answered some of these questions I might be able to help you out some more.

Your right! Ok, I'm going to try to chill. Yes, I just noticed it on one plant, but there seems to be more development overnight, so here are the pictures.. The first one is one that is not severe yet, the second one actually seems to have crystals and hairs coming out of it :/ The other plants you can't really see it yet..

Would there be a reason I can't find anything online about quantum kush auto flower? Maybe it's not the most popular strain, but is supposed to be very good.

If those are two different plants, which I assume they are just by looking at them, then yes, they are autoflowering. At least thats the only logical explanation I can think of.

Yes, you are right… Those are 2 different plants and the same strain… Anyway, these are about 2 ft tall from soil to top… Way smaller than we wanted… 1/2 the plants are this strain and the other 1/2 is not, so I'm going to have to figure out what to do.

Just to make sure, there is no way that these being 2 ft tall, under a T5 on a 18/6 cycle would make them do this… even if they were in the shade a little… If that is the case, then it being auto flower is the only other thing it could be…

So if this is the case, this is where I need help… What are the effects of the light cycles going to do to it… This is budding in a 24 hr cycle… Should it be cut to 12/12 ideally? Is the flower time the same as usual? I have no idea how to take care of auto flowering plants or leaving them on 24/0 or 18/6 will hurt them or not…

Its okay man. Relax. Practically everythigns the same. Actually, as far as I know the only difference is that autoflowering plants flower... well automatically. They still need the same nutes, watering, soil, and lighting as any nonautoflowering plant.

However, with your other dilemma of having one autoflowering strain and one regular strain I would either wait until the regular strain is finished vegetating and then transfer them to flowering or just transfer them now. I don't know if you stated this earlier but how long were they vegging before they started flowering?

As far as I can tell you've been doing everything correctly, especially the lighting periods, so they really shouldn't be hermaphrodites.

They have been in veg about 30-40 days now.. So do you think I can keep veging another 14 days and then flower them all the same time. Would you continue giving them veg nutes and then keep them all on the same nute schedule for flower or how exactly would you do that? Would you keep them on 24 for the remainder of veg to hopefully slow the budding down? They were just switched them from 24/0 to 18/6 like a week ago.

In my eyes I think both strains are ready for flowering. You said they were 2 feet tall at the moment correct? If thats the case they will be between 4 and 5 feet when they finish flowering. If it were me I'd wait a week or two then go ahead and put everything into the flowering stage under a 12/12 light cycle, but thats just me.

As for nutrients....

During the vegetative stage you want to give them more Nitrogen than anything else, however during the flowering stage they need more Phosphorous and Potassium. Look at buying bat guano or get some bloom nutrients from fox farm. From my research those both work extremely well. Just remember that two weeks before harvesting you need to flush them and stop feeding them nutrients or it will make the bud taste funny.

So to answer your nutrient schedule shortly... No. Don't keep them on the same nute schedule. When budding they need more Phosporous and Potassium (The second and third numbers on the NPK rating).

As for the last question, if its possible I'd put the autoflowering strain under 24/0 and the regular strain under 18/6. However, if thats not possible put it all under 18/6.

Oh, here is a list of the pros and cons of autoflowering plants.

Advantages of autoflowering seeds:
- Multiple harvest per year
- They stay small
- Short grow and flowering period
- Very resistant plants.

Disadvantages of autoflowering seeds:
- Smaller harvest
- Lower THC%
