making bubble right now and been reading thru matts sticky about ice wax .... decieded to start a thread about specifics of this artwork and how it works out for you.. and wondering about his drying method but idk let me start here:

I am currently using 190 as work/catcher bag and 25u for all hash to collect in. these are all 5 gal bags running a max of half lb fresh trim... as many have stated dry trim produces good hash but i think that more aroma/quality is preserved using fresh as seen from many trial and error.. With the trimm i was given to work with i have been getting about a half oz of bubble from each half lb of wet trim/small buds. I have a lot to process so i will try different things if yall think i need to change or have interesting ideas... quality is top notch and i must also add that the trim has some fan leaf mixed in but is mostly sugar trim from strains that have tested 18-22% pics to follow...

Bubble! I work out of the 220 bag. Ill then use 160 (food grade) 73 and 25 bags. The 73 tends to be more blond but the 25 is always full melt!

ok yeah that sounds about right... im doing this to be a blend of quality and quantity... my 190 only catches crap and the 160 smokes pretty good but i use dry ice to make that kief stuff which melts much better for cooking and comes out pretty blonde if ya do it right. 73 is usully where shit drops sometimes my 45 25 dont have shit depends tho my 45 holds alot when i do certain sativas

okay theres a pic of my qp bags of trim.. bubble bag with first run in it some dried curing hash from previous runs and my paint mixing by hand method lol. I use paper towel to set my hash on to dry and usully do a light press with the papertowel in some terry cloth and let sit over night in the air as a patty and leave it like that because i use glass rod to heat/ smoke and dont like dealing with crumbles in my bowl..

The Dry Ice Process kicks ass. Much better taste, from trim to hash in less than an hour. After extracting with Dry Ice I'll take the leftover and extract with alcohol/butane to get whatevers left. I don't know what the efficiency is but since I'm doing a second chemical extraction doesn't much matter.

idk about dry ice hash tasting better they are both good but the bubble sticks to my mouth after smoking a bowl.. how much do you get out of processing the leftovers tho that could be interesting...

I'd agitate with a wooden spoon or something very lightly, looks like you got a lill extra green matter in there.

Yep, agreed. Use less agitation if you want a purer IWE with better bubble/melt properties. In a 5 gallon machine, I like to do a 8 minute first run for true PURE (PUREsonal stash ya know) then to make the effort more worth it I re-run the same material 2-3 times total depending on how good it extracts the first 2 times. I rerun the same RO water, coupled with RO ice and only use the slow straining bags on the first and last runs to save time. I'll get pics up once the computer is less fragile showing the degradation of purity with more agitation. I think I went 4-5 runs and took pics. For me it was too green after the second run (full 15 min agitation). It really depends on what you are after too. My first run (8 min) veganic OG 70 micron IWE puts me to sleep some days which is a feat as I don't usually weed nap!

How's the yield on the first 8 min wash Kalyx? Gonna get my IWE on this late eve with all my new extract gear, so trying to read up and get things dialed!:)

My goal is to always achieve the meltiest waxes for myself, family, friends, and patients!!

IMO yield is most dependent on quality of the trim used (tric density AND surface area) and a nice COLD extraction at 33 degrees. I always run high quality trim and the yield is always good. I also put a winter coat on my machine to insulate it (especially this time of year in the desert) and use RO water and ice.

My last batch I did three runs on the same work bag. The first 8 minute agitation yielded the biggest and most melty blobs (70 was full melt and insane flavor, 45 was almost to the 70 in both categories and yielded like 5x as much, darn wish they were reversed!). The second run (full 15 minute agitation) on the same material yielded about half as much by eyeballing (sorry guys my pics are stranded on my camera for now, I've been wanting to post for a while now but we have a student in the house and many full up harddrives:wall:) and the quality was still passable as melty, except the 25 it got green this wash. Third wash (15 min agitation) on the same material yielded about equal to the second wash, but it was obviously tainted with plant matter as all but the 70 was definitely darker toward green. The third run can be dabbed but is definitely not melty. I'd say next time I will do 2 washes; one 8 minute and one 15 minute on the same material and call it good. I am in it for head stash only and don't want the plant laced IWE so much. These runs were veganic OG fresh frozen, hope it helps tonight!

You da man Kalyx!! This is very vital IWE knowledge and experience that you are dropping;PROPS!! I didn't end up doing a run last night in order to finish trimming my Bubbbas, but I have near 20 lbs of filtered water ice(small boy) made and more in trays...:) ready to go on my day off tomorrow!!

Gonna do the 2 washes like you recommend in order to maintain quality and see what kind of meltiness we get going on. I'd love to get some dabable extracts, so i can rock my sicky oil units that are getting neglected these daze! First run will be veganic Purple Trainwreck, followed by an array of Kush's!!

thanks for sharing about the art!! This has been extremely helpful info for me and im sure many others!!
