A few of the trichome heads on a plant of mine are like brown or very amber. Majority of them are still clear, but just some are brown/dark amber. I have been having heat issues the last few days, if that might have anything to do with it(it's been reaching high 90s and low 100s where I live). My garden reaches around 80-87 on days like these. I couldn't take pictures of this one guys, its too hard to line up my microscope with the lense on my iphone, lol.
I am 6 and a half weeks into flowering btw. I have 3 strains, SV OG, Omrita Rx(high CBD), and Chunk skunk and am growing them under 8 55watt cfls in a 2x4 closet garden

We had a heat wave outside as well for the past few days. Our trichomes were just turning cloudy and there were DARK brown heads. I believe they caused by the heat. 95-105 for a week. Some of the trichomes are still clear(more than I would like) on a few on my plants, most of them got pulled right before the heat wave.

Very amber is very good depending on what phase of grow you are in. You are looking for all amber heads on the trichomes to tell you when to harvest. So, w out knowing anything about your setup and what you are growing and for how long, it is hard to give any good advise. I will check back to see if you added those details.

all amber? I don't think so. a trich turning amber is a sign of degradation in thc .

Why do you say he would want 'all amber'?
I've NEVER heard that.

If your garden was only in the 80's, I don't think it is heat related.
As far as how many trichs you want amber, if you listen to jeffro, or you will feel like your ass is duct taped to a chair.
Read up on it, and decide how much you want, but most I've read don't wait till much more than 20%.

Some just turn amber early I think. If I look very very closely there are usually a couple of amber trichs somewhere by week 4 of my grows...but it'll be literally one or two out of thousands! Just the odd random one that matured faster than it should have for some reason.

I think that these early ones just go more amber than the others by the time you start looking for them. I expect you only have a few too, otherwise you'd be seeing more light amber ones...?

In my situation the trichomes went from cloudy to amber on about 20% of my plant in 1 day when it was 105. There were some light, and a small, but enough to take note of it, amount of VERY dark brown trichomes.

Good to know. Makes sense I guess. Heat does tend to speed many chemical reactions up..

What % of amber trics you want is a personal preference. Some people like a strong narcotic high ( for pain, sleep ), some people like a more head buzzy type high. The more amber the trics the more narcotic the effect will be.
