Brown spots on upper leaves.

Hi there.....1392762755364.jpgI'm 3 weeks into my first grow from clone and I've noticed that since last night the upper leaves on two plants have developed a problem. My water is only 5 day's old with 1/3 strength nutes and I've been keeping the PH level just under 6.5 but after checking a few hours ago it was at 6.6 (I wouldn't think that's the problem). Any ideas what this could be anyone please ?

Thanks for the replies both :-).
It's a new light so I guess the bulb could be brighter ? I did actually turn the light up from 300 - 450 watts the evening before , but since seeing the spots I've turned it back down and backed it off a little.
The roots seem to be growing fine or at least they look fine to me being a complete novice.

This morning !! I'm thinking of flushing with clean PH'd water for 2 days ?

There is no reason ever that pH in hydro should be that high. The range for hydro is 5.6-6.1, anything outside of that(depending on stage) will cause problems.

Ok thanks, I'm going to keep it around 6 from now on. It's so confusing for a newbie as nearly all sites state 5.5 - 6.5.

General concensus in hydro is 5.8. Aim for that.

After your latest pic i see a few different deficiencies. (Unless you're spraying the leaves with chemicals [dont]). So either from ph way off, or more than likely roots not doing their job.

Can you get a pic of the roots?

Ok thanks ! I'll get my PH down lower as soon as I get home.
Taking pics of the roots is awkward at the moment as being they've only been planted 17 days the roots are literally just pokeing through the underneath of the upper tray. (Nutriculture bubble box).
I'll see what I can do once I get home.
Thanks for replying again !!

Stop trying to fix many things at once when you know for a fact that the pH was out of range and pH is the first place to look when solving deficiency issues. A plant in veg and early flower likes a lower pH, 5.6-5.8, and mid flower likes 5.8-6.0, while late flower likes 6.0-6.1. This allows the plant to absorb more of what it needs at different stages. The spots won't go away and it takes a couple of days to see changes.
