Brown roots??

My plants are 17 days old. I am using DWC setup and yesterday I cleaned every thing out and changed the water. So I was testing the ph this morning and I saw that the roots had turned brown! They were nice and white yesterday. I added a little more nutrients but still way under recommended dose. I am using Dyna-grow. I was just wondering is this from nutrients stain or root rot?? There is no slime and no smell. And how long (if it is root rot) does it take for the plant to show symptoms? They still look nice and green.

sounds like root rot if it happened overnight
idk how long til symptoms show
have u been using nutrients this whole time?if so,then its not stained from them

70 temps it might of went high last night it was like 95 out.

but would the leave turn brown of something? they are still green look good.

Plants can still appear healthy for a while when they have root disease problems. It's true colder water holds more oxygen, but only a little. With a big enough air pump you will still be replacing the oxygen faster than it's depleted. The important reason you want to keep cooler water is that microbes have a hard time breeding in the cold.

You need...

1wt air pump per gallon of water, as many stones as you can.
Water temps above 62f below 68f
Absolutely no light hitting the water
No organic matter what so ever in the res, no molasses, no organic PH adjuster, nothing. Organic DWC is possible but you must be prepared and experienced.

Some people like to run a sterilizing agent such as SM-90 or Dutch Master Zone. H202 is only a temp treatment.

One good way to tell if its actual root disease is to pay attention to your PH. Root problems often cause a swing in the PH level. Classic root rot will cause the Ph to drop, while the brown slime algae will cause it to rise.
