Brown and Red Leaves

Hi, this is my first real grow and its 2-3 weeks in and I have a few problems, P1 has a brown spot on both of the leaves as you can see and Im not sure what it is from since it is on both of the leafs, also about a week maybe more I put this plant into a bigger pot because the roots were coming out of the bottom, now the roots are coming out of this pot and Im not sure if I should move it to an even bigger one (not sure if the jiffy pot composted yet). P2 is kind of weird because one leaf is bigger than the other but thats not exactly the problem, as you can see the one leaf is a bit red and im not sure what that is from. P3 is probably looks the healthiest except for a tad bit of curling of the leaves, not sure what exactly thats from.

These are unknown strain plants and they have been under 2 13W 6500k Daylight CFLs and 1 42W 6500k Daylight CFL on a 24/7 light schedule. I mist them a few times a day as the soil gets dry fast. I am using 2 PC fans for intake/outtake which are working alright. Ive read up and ive come to the conclusion that it could be 1. PH (if it is, would http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-DIGITAL-pH-...415?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item230aeac90f be good enough? Not sure if I can find a digital one locally) 2. Watering (not to sure) 3. Nutrients 4. Need bigger pots (applys to P1 only as the roots are growing out)

Any help would be awesome and here are some pictures that should help, thanks :)

P1:1,4,5,7,10 P2:6,8,11 P3:3,9 Temp: 2

Over watering.

You're doing a few things wrong. First of all, stop misting your plants. Soil should go from saturated to dry, and you shouldn't be watering more frequently than every 3 days.

The pH could be off as well. The soil looks to be of extremely low quality (sticks, rocks, mud) with zero aeration and this is a contributer as well.

Your CFL bulbs could be closer to the plants also.

So... In short... Get yourself some new planters and some high quality potting soil. Mix in some perlite to your soil for aeration. Get yourself a pH meter, and maybe a few clamp light reflectors to help focus the energy on the plant. Then get that soil good and wet with reverse osmosis filtered water pH balanced to 6.5. Then plant another seed and watch it grow. Keep better track of your grow in the future. You should know exactly how old your plant is, because it doesn't even look like some of these 12 day olds.

In 2-3 weeks most have plants that look like at least like this (day 14):

I don't usually suggest this, but go back to the drawing board and start again with the proper setup and knowledge. Save your seeds, that might have been the genetic equivalent of Einstein, or Mother Teresa, and we'll never know what the potential was given it's current state.

IF... you want to try and salvage this grow, transplant that seedling very carefully into the high quality potting soil and go from saturated to dry, to saturated to dry. Lift the plant to determine when there is no more water present. Timing is key, you don't want the plant to suffer. Give it another 2 weeks and just maybe it'll come around.

Thanks for the advice snow crash, and ill check out your thread chronic. I dont think the problems the soil, but it could be like you said... Im using Alltreat Farm Premium Tropical soil special blend and I thought it would be good enough ( I saw it working for some other people - http://www.420magazine.com/forums/c...02-poor-mans-cfl-closet-grow-first-plant.html ) Not sure what to do still, might not water for a day or two and put the lights a bit closer to see what happens. I notice that when i check the plants in the morning they weigh less and then I water them, then later in the evening they look really dry and are light again and that is why I mist them (will stop doing that though). I realise i should invest in a ph meter. Thanks for the help and if there is any more advice Im willing to listen :) Might post pics again in a few days to see what people have to say.

Just took some new pictures today, the new growth is looking healthy but i could be wrong. All of the bottom leafs (round starter ones) are brown and kind of white. Im wondering if this will affect the grow at all, but regardless, I plan to continue because I think this wont affect the plants that much later on. I found some pictures that were near when I first started, close to when the plants sprouted and they are dated 01/11/10, so I know that my plants are now around 15-17 days old. They seem abit small for being that old and I was wondering if Im doing something wrong that could be fixed? Also if I should be giving them nutes soon and which kind would be the best for my plants? Thanks, all help is appreciated

Took some new picture today, there looking better but I have a few questions. What should i do about the dead/brown leaves on P1 (3 pictures), on P2 theres 2 brown spots (2 pictures, one on each leaf), and on P3 what should I do about the white (2 pictures, round leafs)? I was also planning on transferring P2 and P3 into bigger pots in a few days, is this a good idea or should i wait longer? Thanks for all help :leaf:

Just stop babying them so much.

Give them light, allow the soil to dry out, then water it again until you get some run off.

Do that a couple times and then when the plant is 5 or 6 nodes tall we can talk about where to go from there.
