Little puzzled here and don't know what I should do. Came home today to fund brown algae growing inside my rez. It's a Dwc no light penetrates at all. I change my res once a week and have never seen this one...it's also only growing on a few things that are not in the water. The root section suspended..The suction cup of my digital thermometer. And it's filling the air stones now. 2 days ago there were no signs and if I shake the roots or squirting then with solution it comes right off but it's back within hours.heres some pics the hydro store guy sold me some aqua shield and I started using it this morning but it doesn't look like it's doing anything anyone's Input would help...I don't wanna lose my baby..

Water temps to high most likely. Build a reflector to shine light away from the buckets, some cardboard and foil will work fine. Happens alot during veg when the tops of the buckets are exposed, as soon as the canopies cover the buckets temps stay a bit more stable. Peace.

My res temps are 62-65 it's an ice chest and I have no light leaks at all. I use cardboard over the top just as a precaution for that so I am a little stumped as to how it's growing...won't h202 kill the microbes that aqua shield put in. Is it best to just use h202 every few days as a precaution...I have no slime at all just brown growth..but it is early it just started today

It will kill all good and bad bacteria. Its basically resetting everything. I Never used aqua shield b4. I use sensizym and bud factor x. I noticed the slime was prominent in mid-late veg. Also it only takes the temps to spike up above 75 once to create unwanted growth.

Not arguing at all I appreciate the help but I even temp my water before a res change...never goes about 67...just odd...doesn't h202 need to be used constantly or can I use it....boil all my accessories (air stones tube and all) clean bleach my res and top clean...air stones restart...or just use the h202 till its gone

Depending on the maturity of the plant will determine the strength of h202 you want to use. Sometimes your nute recipe will froth up too. You may want to be sure its algae. how often are you doing a res/system drain and fill? H202 is ran through though system while intact witj the plants and will sterilize everything, thats why dosage is dependent on plant size. When ive had algae, it gets thick like the eggs in egg flower soup and collects up on the top of my hydroton. Usually I can hit my feeding manifold and knock it loose.

Definitely dont use bleach, very small margin for catastrophic error. H202 will sterilize most outbreaks that are within a recoverable range. Its gotta be bad though, ive never experienced it. From what ive seen the roots are ball of slime and heard the smell is unbearable.

I res change every 7 days...The bleach I only meant like a diluted solution to wipe everything down..then I would rinse it off...just thinking sterilize everything..about 5 weeks from seed hard to see because m screen training it but main stem is larger than my pinkie and about 14 inches tall

GH micro can turn the water brown as it has some organic elements to it, use 1 teaspoon per gallon of h2o2 and wait for it to clear up

That's why I think it's algae and there's a pic of my root 2 days ago
