Broken stem

I have a rather large purple strain plant that I topped after the sixth node appeared, which was 3 months ago. Two weeks ago I put this monster (it's 42" from soil to top) into flower and today while examining it I cracked the stem for one of the colas at the base. I staked the plant right after this happened and taped the two sides together, is there anything else I can do to help heal my little girl?

pretty much pray, hope, wish, and wait - hope it works. I've taped with good results before so cross your fingers. if it works - it will make it stronger.
