Bringing fresh air into my tent!!

Hey guys i have a little problem here that i need some help with. I have a grow tent inside my house (top floor) and i need to bring fresh air into my tent,
but its winter now and its hella cold outside... I think that this will be a problem sucking freezing cold air into my tent, any advice? I have a window i could setup a duct and have
air flow from outside into the tent but wont that kill my babies and make the temp so low especially during night time?

That's going to be difficult, can you reverse the whole idea?. That is to say pull air into the tent from a different source and use the window as an exhaust.

Is the air in the room no good? Why not vent fresh air into the room and then let air from the room vent into the tent? The time in the room should raise it's temps right? Or pass the air over your bulb before having it touch your plants - cools the bulb and heats the air.

Another route would be supplementing CO2...

i dunno if this helps or not.. and its a bit of a pain in the ass..
my tent is quite near the window..
i open the window slightly in the night whilst the lights are on.. and close the window whilst they off...
the cold air gets sucked into the tent and the hot air is vented out the same window but at the top..

the only problem i find is that the bottom of the tent is much cooler than where the lamp is.. however it keeps my canopy temp cool and at decent temperatures..
according to physics hot air rises and cold air sinks.. however the fan is at the top of the tent which is pulling the cool air up through the canopy.

you can also get something called an intake sock.. this filters the air coming in and distributes it more evenly through the tent

yeah its possible but what other source is as good as fresh air? would i pull it from another room in the house??

Regulating the temperature using outdoor air would be difficult, you would have to have a thermostat controlling the set-up. All you need is to maintain room temps(or close)due to lights emitting heat...correct?. If this is the case, then you only need to move air through. Where the air comes from shouldn't matter.

the air in the room is ok, temp stays around 65-75 in the house n humidity is about 40. Gastanker, you are right about bringing the cold air into
the room then into the tent. The problem is that when the light is off the temp is gona be really low n that draft of cold air at night caused me mildew before...

mantiszm thats a good idea with opening window at night when lights on n shutting day. You have duct running to the same window?

You can you please help the OP?...lol...you know more than I do on this topic. I don't even use grow tents.

the way i see it is that people only run co2 when the lights are on..
i mean ideally fresh air all the time is good.. but i would say more important when they are awake..
they still get some fresh air from within the room whilst they are sleeping..

yeh i have the two intake ducts at the bottom of the window stacked one on top of the other
and the exhaust at the top.. it's pretty simple.

obviously the ductin is on the inside
the ductin can't be seen from outside because the window on the left swings open slightly and creates an angle..

:)

I would have to figure out a way to do that without being able to see it from outside.
My window slides open and is visible to many other houses. I wuld have to mess around n figre out what works.
ANyhow thanks for all the advice and ideas, i will keep posting here as i try to figure out what works best

If you vent your room or your tent outside in the winter and live where it is freezing coold watch out for GLACIATION,it's the ice that builds up on the outside on the vent when the humid air is exaughted.it is a dead giveaway to the cops.

Yah ok makes sense, but id have my shit venting outside at night time... and it could always be a dryer...never knnow though.
i appreciate the heads up!

i'll be trying the same that gastanker said...use the freshair cooling the light to warm and ventilate the grow area. So the hood will not have ducting taking air out. Now since i'm using the same air that cools my light to warm and ventilate the grow, i have to filter this air. There are air filters that you can attach to your fan so dust and bugs are virtually knocked out of the equation (knock on wood). When lights turn off, i plan on keeping the fan on and some of the ports and vents in the tent open for passive air exchange.

I'll have to run a test on this but your conditions sound about the same with mine. my house is consistently averaging b/w 60 - 65 degrees night & day. How hot the tent will get with the light and warm air is something i will need to test and measure with my hygrometer before i put my plants in it. Dont' want things too hot and dry :) I wish this forum had a section for tent growers specifically.
