breeding seeds at home

Hey guys .
just curious...
will plants require less light if i only want too produce seeds and not fully developed buds?
say 100wats oh HPS compared too 400wats ?

or what is the general rule of thumb for making seeds?
would say a 80watt full spectrum LED grow light be enough for 1 plant too produce seeds?

It needs to grow as normal, maybe not as big, but normal
Male needs to flower
Female needs to flower and fully develop

Over stressing is never good.

How do you plan on doing this exactly?

I dont know any rule of thumb, but yes you dont need as much light. More light might produce a bit better seeds that ripen faster, but it doesent matter too much, especially if you dont grow them commercially. You will make plenty anyways and can easily see which ones are good and which ones are not.

If i partially seed a plant, i try to seed a bit smaller branch that is in semi shade(it needs some light still). It will make seeds just fine, but it would not grow as big of a bud anyways.

Grow seed plants the same as you would plants you grow for flower. If anything they need more food and light to produce a good crop of seeds. You can skimp and use little light but you'll end up with many immature seeds that didn't develop just as you would with buds that didn't get enough light.

I feed plants I'm growing for seed more than I do plants I'm growing for flower. To get the best quality seeds you need a good environment which means plenty of light and a good feeding regimen.

Good luck with making seeds. But don't think you can cut everything back just because you're growing for seeds. Seed production takes as much as flower production.

I make seeds every grow and have for years. I'm not claiming any expertise as I have no formal education regarding plants but decades of experience.

Here's a recent seed run.

Some Durban + Pakistani Chitral Kush F3 crossed with a landrace Mazar I Sharif from Afghanistan. I'm growing the latter out on my next indoor run. And I know it's going to be good.

I've been making seeds for years. If anything you want more light and more food to harvest good yields of quality seeds.

I'll let my results speak for themselves.

Well in my country home growing and smoking has been made legal...
however the only seeds around are shitty skunk seeds ( our version of grass basically)
the only option we have here is too import seeds and with out post office 99% of the times packages are stolen

so my plan is a start up...i want to grow 8-16 plants of different strains and breed feminized seeds using colloidal silver...
i am asking about lights because we have one of the highest electricity prices in the world and also load shedding because the government cant keep the power on and meet demand...

this post will help me calculate wattage needs, amount of solar panels i need etc

Is it possible to grow outdoors? No electricity needed.

Thank you soooo much for the knowledge. I learned something this time.

I am a new member, first time learning how to get the seeds growing by using the grow light. I just made a wooden box (60x 44x55CM) and plan to buy a grow light. Could you please tell me what size/watts of grow light I should buy for sowing some vegetable and bean seeds as I am living in Canada north? I read some people talked about it that about 600 watts should be enough for seeding. Thanks
