Blueprints for grow room.. need opinions.

Hello All.. This is my first time posting and also my first grow room and first time growing.. I’d like to believe I have more knowledge than most rookies because I’ve read a lot of the years.. Anyways.. I built the room and taped and plastered it all last Night so Now I’m ready to wrap the walls in “Panda Film” unless there’s something better for Light reflection ?
Anyways here’s the room I built.. It’s 8x8x7.. and here’s my design and blue print.. I’m growing 12 plants because that’s what legal here in Michigan. OPINIONS PLEASE!! should I not have both fans from the lights exhaust and carbon filter connected to a “W” and just use a “V” for the lights and a separate single one for the carbon filter exhaust ? Also, what “CFM” rating should I have installed for the inside carbon filter ? What size for the lights Hood exhaust ? And what size for the carbon filter outside blowing fresh air inside ?? should maby add an air conditioner and a dehumidifier im not sure how hot it gets where you live. theres not alot of outlets on the walls either at least in the picture. do you have a panel for the 4 ballasts with a box with a trigger cord? i like your drawing cool stuff

I agree, maybe a second exhaust fan might be a little cheaper, looks like plenty of air movement, I'm not sure if you want to add some veg lights hanging down between the plants get that undercarriage nice,? Just a thought but looks great!

Well, There’s a plug right behind one of those walls that I’m going to be putting inside the room.. also the light inside the room I was going to take down and run 2 outlets up top for the 4 grow lights.. I live in Michigan so it’s about to get pretty cold.. that why I was planning on running one of my inlets from the window and run it through the lights and straight they the room into the chimney so it won’t even touch the room

I planned on this being only a flower room. Seed to flower, 12 plants..

I was originally thinking About getting 12 clones..or should I just plant about 30-40 seeds and first and discard the males as soon as I can spot them ?
What do you mean by second exhaust ? I have one sucking from outside with a carbon filter. And I have one connected inside with a carbon filter... farther down the tubes I added a fan outside the room sucking air out along with the carbon filter.. should I change that and just connect the lights and have that exhausted out by it self instead ?

i doubt the circuit for the light on the ceiling has enough amperage for 4000 watts of light, youd prolly only have enough amperage for 1x1000 watt. if your gona run 4000 watts youll need a 30amp circuit with a 240volt box on it to run that much light. im not sure how cold it gets in michigan but if i pulled air from outside the building into my hoods in the winter the cold air would condense it would practically rain inside the hoods.

If you have a gas furnace or hot water heater in the room and you pull negative pressure with an exhaust fan, you can cause the exhaust for the gas appliance to be sucked into back the room instead of it flowing out of the house through it's dedicated vent.

Ok I did realize you had two. Honestly you should be set. I think it look great set up

Just wondering if it's enough exhausting out was all but with filtered fresh air coming in you should be fine. What are you doing for humidity?

Come on guys lets not set him up for failure here...

For starters the other guys right, your going to need a sub panel installed or use a product like the "power thief" that will allow you to plug into a 220 dryer outlet in order to have a 4-plug outlet for all your lights.

As for your plants, you aren't going to want to use 12 plants from seed under 4k's bro. That's an utter waste with 4k's to be honest. Seed to flower is for SOG and micro setups. Your going to want to veg... flip at 1.5 - 2' and train with a net to get an even canopy... seed to flower and your pissing in the wind...

Also no need for there to be a filter on your intake. Pointless to scrub air going in and all its going to do is choke off your intake velocity. Your also not going to cool your lights with the way your ventilation setups are run. You need a separate extraction fan for your filter in the room, and then another separate ducting run for your lights. Air takes the path of least resistance so your flow will not be equal how it is.

Other guys also right on the condensation. You can expel hot air with an insulated line no different than your dryer vent for your house, but brining in that cold of air will be a nightmare and your have water dripping from your venting and into your hoods which is a big no no.. You appear to already have a lung room/space by looking at the far right side of your drawing... you need to draw you air from your hoods from the space beside the room. This is called a lung room. That will cut out the dripping venting runs.

6" IMO are for 600's or single lights. If it was me, I'd be running air cooled hoods with 8" ducting connections. Run an 8" inline fan on the end of each run sucking from outside that room (not outside) through the lights, thru the fan, and out the room up the chimney. As for the filter and the fan scrubbing the room and extracting the heat? You'd be wise to do minimum 8" but realistically 10". Its all a guessing game in the winter, but with your air cooled hoods your really better off to go sealed and install a portable AC unit as trying to tie in x3 ducting lines into your chimney will be a pain in the ass.

I've run a similar setup so I've learned from a few things...

Ok so I redesigned my set up a little. Thanks for your reply also for everybody who replied. I drew up a different set up that I think would work a lot better.. let me know what everybody thinks please and thank you.
Also on this set up, could I just put holes in the wall to bring in fresh air ? Or should I hook up a carbon filter and fan and blow it inside ? I’m also going to be install a new breaker box because the one I have here now is the old school style with twist ins and I’ll probably run 2x 220v for the 4x 1000 watt lights. And a couple extra 120v s for all my fans. Luckily the breaker box is 2 feet away from my grow room so it’ll be easy to run wires

have you not considered led lighting? substantially reduced electrical requirements, as well as dramatically reducing heat. and therefore the need for all that lighting ventilation? you could then maybe use your original chimney path for exhaust? just curious if led’s were a possible solution to the two biggest flaws mr4tune pointed out. (i wonder his thoughts on led’s too)

With your dimensions you may be able to use a 6 inch intake with 8" exhaust.

install your door so it opens outward, you want your ears to pop when you open it. I aim to pull a vacuum in the room to mitigate smell and for CO2 enrichment.

On the drawing I have the 2 intakes bringing in air from outside of the grow room (there’s a room outside) flowing through the lights and being exhausted right outside of the room on the other side.. could I put a Y duct connection (Like in the first drawing) on the end of the two lighting duct hoses ( past the two fans blowing air out for exhaust ofcorse) and just exhaust it out with one hole or is it better the way I have it ?

I also did install the door so it opens outwards. I was also going to wrap the entire room in the white/black panda film and I bought a zipper I was going to install in the middle of the door. That way when I open the door I have to upzip the panda film to enter (I was thinking it’ll create a better seal overall)

also the room is actually 7 1/2 by 7 1/2 and 6’ 8” in height What size fans(CFM rating) would you recommend for each ?? and also what brand ? Thanks I very much appreciate your help and reply I plan on getting this room up within a week or two MAX

If I took that route I would probably need a mini split ac ? Or are those only used for sealed rooms with non cooling hood lights ?
If so, I don’t have the funds for that at the moment .. I think ima give up on the chimney idea since it’s probably about 15-20 feet away from the grow room. Especially when I have a window right next to the grow room and I can just exhaust the hot air from the lights outside of the room or tap it into one of my vents to blow hot air upstairs into my bedroom or something of that nature since it’ll be getting cold here soon

So I was thinking of using two of these 8” 420 CFM Can fans ..one on each two lights.. and then I was thinking about using the T8 for my carbon filter And exhaust.. and using a T6 for my intake( I would need a filter for this as well, correct ?)

would this be a great set up ? Or is there someway I could go cheaper since the T6/T8 are kinda Hefty price
