Bluelab EC Cap makes 100PPM difference

So after 1 year of using the Bluelab EC pen, I only just learned that checking a solution of about 600PPM without the blue cap gives a PPM of 700... 100 units higher.:clap::clap::???::???::???: Who new that the plastic shield around the two nodes affected the EC.

I always used it without it because its faster to quickly clean it after. Just take it out and wipe it...not having to remove the cap and clean both. Its deceiving as RO water always gives 0, but, once the PPM rises the readings begin to exponentially differ.

So, cap on from now FFS.

Good luck with your measurements. I don't use Bluelab's pen, but have several different PPM pens. RO water PPMs are typically low, but always above zero. Right now mine is running about 34. If your RO system has an ion exchange filter, it will lower it more, but I still doubt PPMs get down to zero.
