Blue Heaven.

This is Blue Heaven in it's first week of life. Initially the seedlings showed heavy purple and sativa influence in approximately 75% of the seedlings and a greener indica expression in the other 25%. This will be my first experience growing the Blue Heaven. Any information or comments pertaining to this strain are greatly appreciated. Pictures of other specimens welcome, too. The first two images below are of the heavier sativa looking plants and the third one is of one of the greener looking indica phenos. The plants didn't remain in these expressions long and all soon changed into more of a indica dominant looking strain.

By the second week I ran into what I believe now were issues of overwatering which I mistook for nutrient deficiencies and decided to feed the babies.

I was seeing yellowing of the cotyledon and first set of leaves. In my defense the plants seemed to grow a bit slower than anticipated. Maybe from being overwatered, lol. At any rate at the end of the second week I fed them which I believe altered the soil in a manner that inhibited the plants ability to uptake secondary and trace elements such as magnesium. Several of the plants began showing symptoms such as posted below. The issue was corrected by increasing the temp and decreasing relative humidity while also allowing the plants to dry out completely between three separate flushes in a row. I adjusted the ph of each flush to 6.5 and on the third flush I administered 1.5 teaspoons of organic molasses per/gal (for the trace elements). On the fourth watering I fed with a light compost tea and have since proceeded with standard water only ph'd to 6.6. I'm at the eighth watering since the problem was diagnosed and the plants appear to be proceeding with healthy normal growth.SDC13506.JPG

These pictures bring us up to date and were taken last night in the middle of the plants third week. They've grown slower than planned and will need to remain in their 4.5X4.5 inch potters for a week or two longer than anticipated until they're tall enough to top for backup clones. After topping I'll wait to make sure roots are taking on the backups at which time I'll transplant and switch into flower shortly after. So if all goes well between here and rooting I'll be switching the plants into flower within 14-16 days. This is the nicest looking pheno so far and also coincidently has three shoots all the way up as opposed to the typical two. The seedlings are showing indica dominance after the first set of leaves with a healthy dose of sativa influence. Tightly packed node spacings. An average of 7 blades per/leaf. Lots of purple and an incense and musky cedar skunk aroma. I get these smells often from seedlings. I also see the heavy purpling often in young seedlings and believe that part of it is influenced by genetics but suspect the majority of purpling seen in seedlings is due to struggling with nutrient uptake cause by overwatering.SDC13528.JPG SDC13601.JPG SDC13539.JPG SDC13564.JPG
