on the tips of the leaves they are starting to turn black. my plant is about 14" high i have it on a 20/4 light sceduele. i water it when the soil looks dry. also i mist the plant regularly with a mist bottle. should i be spraying the water directly on the plant? the leaves at the bottom seem to be alright its the little new ones at the top where the pistils are coming out.

ive had it growing for a little over a month. yes i have one plant and it is my first grow. it is a white widow plant growing in soil. the soil is store bought 14,11,8. i have it under 150 uv heat lamp. it is about 73 degrees at the top of the plant. and yes i think i see preflowers how do i upload a pic on here??

white widow under a heat lamp?? man im not trying to hate on ya but you seem like your very unprepared. at this point growfaq would do you much better than my advice

i saved this plants life. someone had it outside last month my friend told me about it and i went and got it. it would have died if it wasnt for me. youre right i wasnt prepared for it but i think im doing a pretty good job with it. but thanks for no help at all just criticism

UV will burn the leaves when they are wet.
If you want good results you really need to invest in a 400 watt hps lamp or plenty of cfl bulbs.
What are you feeding the plant?bongsmilie

i dont know what i should be feeding it so i havent been. its just been getting water when it needs it. so it wont work with the uv light at all? i have to buy a new bulb?

where do u get hps lights will they have them at wal mart you think?
Well if you feed it nothing it will die:lol:
If i were you i would start out small and just go online and search for a 250 watt ballasted cfl with a reflector or a 400 watt hps, ballast with reflector.
I have no idea if they sell these in your local walmart as i am english but i seriously doubt itbongsmilie

Friend the guy telling you to read the growfaq was giving you good advice, you need to study and do so very quickly you may have just saved the plant to eventually kill it, if you dont make some changes and very soon, UV lamp no good at least not how you are using it, it and a nutrient deficinecy are most likely the causes of your problem........... you said you give it water, I assume its tap water, do you let it sit out for the chlorine to evaporate? do you have any idea what the ph level in the water is? Do you have any idea what ph level even means? you can save your plant, but you need to read and then go to walmart and get some supplies..............I suggest reading on cloning too just in case good luck

no wally world does not carry hps. but you can get them at lowes which is usually like right beside wally world or right across the street. usually lowes is very close, there is a link on here that was recently posted for a 20$ setup 150-250 watt hps, just get two of those and youll be set. it might take a while for shipping. ive heard that they got for at least 50 at lowes and up to like 200 or so. im not sure. ill see if i cant find that link with the 20$ one for you.

oh and ive had some burning of the tips of my leaves up toward the top of my plant too. i just moved the light further away from the apical meristem (growing top) of the plant.

you should really post some pics on here so we can get a better feel of your setup. the one of the plant is kinda blurry, oh and congrats on saving the plant, white widow, nice. i want to see this happen for you.

yeah i always let the water sit out overnight for 24hours. yeah i know what ph is i just dont know the properway to test it. and/or regulate it.

ok ill try to get more high res pics up im gonna go to lowes today and buy that hid light. you think i need two of them though? im just confused on what to feed it when to feed it and how to do the ph test.

The UV light is burning the new growth. Heat lamps are bad. I saw some burned fan leaves as well. CFLs are cheap if you intend to grow this out. HPS is available at your local hydro shop or order on line. I have heard great things about HTG Supply. You could probably get away with flourescents now for veg (that is all I use) and a 250 HPS for flowering. There are 2 different stages of feeding -
1 is for veg cycle (lights on 24/0 or 16/8)
1 is for flowering cycle (lights on 12/12)

Lots of great info in the GrowFAQ located at the top of each page.

Good luck saving this baby.

UV is good in short burst late in flowering it is shown to increase thrichome production......... go to walmart, get yourself as many 42w cfl bulbs as you can afford, 4-6 should do you, go to the pet department, near the aquarium supplies they sell a PH test kit, cheap and very simple to use also comes with drops to adjust water up and down (see growfaq for proper ph range), get some schultz 10-15-10 plus micro nutrients again very cheap and easy to use, go to the aisle with the camping supplies buy and emergencey blanket (mylar substitute) cover the walls in your grow area with it, oh and while you are in the electrical aisle grab a decent timer.................
