Biogas... Could it work?

I'm just wondering if anyone has ever thought about DIY Biogas (from a Methane Digester...google it :P) to cut down on the electric bills.

A 4000W Gas Generator is about $330 and you can hook it up to your natural gas line when you've used up all the methane produced by your dead plants.
Or just chuck some of your organic leftovers (or the neigbours bush haha) in to top it up.

The by-product of a methane digester is methane and CO2.... another cost saving.

Sounds complicated but all it really needs is:
1. Airtight container
2. Plant waste
3. Water
4. Container to store the gas (a compressor too maybe?)
5. Some heat (Put the heat from the lights to some use)
6. Gas generator obviously

Here's a link if anyone's interested

I'd like to try this but wanted to get some opinions first.

The only drawback I can see is if the fittings are not very secure and you get a gas leak....well methane, 1000w light and marijuana plants. You get the picture...
