Right i been thinkin most ppl on this forum are using hps mh lighting and to
get a plant to start flowering u gotta change the light from 18/6 to 12/12
to slow vegging right down . if ive got it right mh throw mostly blue light out and are the best for vegging.
hps throw light out in both blue and red spectrums and are good for flowering and vegging.
so i was thinking if 2700k cfl lights throw light out in mostly the red spectrum would it be posible to extend the day light cycle for flowering just using 2700k cfls without kicking vegging off again.
would this be of benefit to flowering like bigger buds.
ive only come up with this theory.because 2700k are not great for vegging but good for flowering.
if this was posible you could only do it with cfls. what do you lot think ?

if you have more than 12 hours of dark you are not flowering, you are vegging.

it wont work, read the grow FAQ some more, your education has some holes in it.

yes using blue light im talkin bout just using red light.
its not an educated theory just a thought thats why i posted the question.

what i am saying is unless it is a green light (not seen by the plant) it is light and it wont flower.

get educated, read the grow FAQ.

Plants use light at all wavelenghts from near ultraviolet to near infrared to convert water and carbon dioxide into sugars. They use red light near 680nm most efficiently, then blue light near 500nm, then light in between. Some plants are much less efficient at using green light, some use it almost as well as red and blue. All plants have some capacity to adapt to best utilise the available light.

yeah ok... never tested the green light theory, i just leave em alone in the dark... but lots of people swear by it... anyway, point i was making is the same one that you are making.... RED light will put the plant in veg.

so my uneducated thoughts are blown lol

yeah man, i wasnt being a dick with the grow FAQ bit... lots of unbelievably good info in there ;)

just checked out the grow faq blooming +ripening it says you can extend light hours by 1 or 2 but you get leafier buds does that mean more thc ?

if you want bigger buds, instead of adding more hours of light, add more watts of light ;)

Man, I think I get what you're asking..

the "cool white" are the blue ones, best for veg. cycle,

and the "warm white" are the more red ones, best for flowering.

Well, you guys have gotten me totally confused now. I am veging my plants with 6100K cfls, and had planned to flower them using 2700 cfls on a 12/12 light schedule. Am I totally screwed?

dont feel bad, i am totally confused by this thread too :o

what you said is the standard logic.

I'll break it down for you..

what you want is about 6000k for veging, with the "cool white" (which is the blue light) cfls, on a 18/6.

for flowering, 2700k is good, but to get the red light, you'll want the "warm white" cfls.

I can see how you say it's confusing. I like this last post by thegrowman, it brings all the confusion to a point. An accurate one at that. His spectrums are appoximate, 6500k would be ideal, and the 2700 is right. I am not too clear how much higher the K reading goes up or how low it goes. but those numbers are good, lol.

Nice post also by primaverlives, I believe that's who made the post about the light nm, very nice, probably had em like oops this guys knows his shit. lol.

Just my two pennies.
