Big Problem

O.khere's the problem. Started several strains in saphgum/sunshine mix #4 in 1/2 gal grow bags 2 weeks ago. I new they were coming along well but when i went to water earlier i had roots coming out of the bottom of my grow bags !!!! I have larger bags but no medium to fill them with except perlite. Never imagined they would outgrow the half gallon bags in 17 days. I have a large top drip system which i had planned on using once i had the babies sexed and cloned. i have1 inch and 4-1/2 inch rockwool as well as slabs. The question is am i safe to use the perlite until i get them sexed and cloned even though i started in saphgum or is it even possible to take them from the bags and go top drip ???? PLEEEEEEEEASE any help would be appreciated. The strains are big bud skunk, ketama, afghan kush, pakistan valley and brazilian amazonia if that makes any difference. Been using a combo mh/hps the 1st 17 and they're all thick and full....don't wanna lose my babies

You can use perlite only if you really wanted to. That would make it a hydro grow.....It would require more frequent feedings and care not to let the roots get dry...But yes....A grow in all or mostly perlite is definitely doable.

yeah but do i , or can i in anyway go to rockwool ? gently clean roots of saphgum and put in rockwool nd feed top drip???? or should i take the half gallon of saphgum and transplant into perlite ???

Really thats your choice...It would be easier to go to perlite than go to rockwool. But both can be done. One way is easier to transplant but requires more attention afterwards....The other is a bit more tricky to transplant but if it takes to the rockwool...You're off and running.

But you can go either way.

I have a friend who grows his Moms in a mix of 50% Perlite and 50% Vermeculite. Works like a charm.

I do all my grows in 100% perlite, IM going to switch to Canna Cocoa and Hydroton for my next one as I have had no luck with perlite for a cpl of grows now in the hot weather.
