Big Birds new nest 17'

Well it's been a while since being on here, last year went well but I got slammed by work at the end of the year. I pulled about 2.75 lbs off my 3 plants last year, but just didn't have the time to post anything. I will get some photos up later in this thread of last year and what I'm working with now.

For this year, I was gifted a new property to garden on and I couldn't be happier. My limits this year have only been how much money I could scape up to get things rolling. So far I have 25 sour diesels and 4 lemon garlic og's(cbd strain). All clones. I had them all vegging in a closet under an LED I built myself and they loved it. As of right now I have 16 sours outside already and the rest should go in this weekend. The ones outside are about 1.5' tall and taking well to the transplant.
The garden I started with is a huge fenced in area that was used as a rose garden years ago and it had 16 raised wooden planters that are 3'x5' and 2 feet tall. They each have about a half yard of soil. I set up a full drip system to every plant so I don't have to hand water all summer. There was another fenced in garden not to far away from this one that I was going to use also but it doesn't get enough light after 5pm so I scraped that one and added a large addition on to the 16 I have already.
My hope this summer is to have everything run smoothly and have enough meds to last me and my gf 2 years incase I can't grow again for a while. So light up a doobie and take a seat, this should get interesting

Well added 6 gorilla glues and one blue cheese clones to the collection. Moving a yard and a half this weekend, finishing up the drip system, and planting on Sunday. Should have everything in the ground by Monday, going to be a busy weekend.

Back in the day when everyone grew sativa in planted pines, 15-17 foot males were pretty common. Hardly ever see a female that tall. But it can be done. I can't remember what the boys ended up with on this one, but she was tall.

Well 16 sours went in the ground on May 27, now they have been topped twice since then. Even with over 100*F weather they have grown pretty well:

The addition was add and stacked with smart pots:
And now those are full, final strains for this year are sour diesel, gg#4,lemon garlic og and now blue cheese. Pretty happy with how things are looking, now I just have 2 months to figure out my flowering nutes.

Well it's been a while, works been crazy, so I haven't had much time to take pictures. But the last time I went up I got a few. We just stripped the insides of each plant before the photo:55g watering barrel for size.

Very cool set up ...and awesome job training and growing for that matter....I had to break out the ladder and do some tying in the green houses recently....But I'm trying a few new methods training,soils,food in my experimental garden this year...I'm really excited with how there turning out ....my experimental grow allows me to try things I normally never would .....anyways, looks awesome good luck

Thanks, I find that every time I grow its an experiment. This year i didnt get the best soil because I didn't have the money but now I'm having to get more nutrients to make up for it. Training plants is something I picked up years ago and all my buddies call me the orb grower since everything ends up looking like a ball. I just wish I had the enough space to veg my plants right this year, had to put about 30 in a small closet and wasn't able to transplant into bigger containers. They stayed in 3" pots for way to long and it hurt me over all. Which is sort of scary with how tall they already are.

That net or metal grid...whatever it is, is a great way to get them into flower earlier, for places that the days are too long and the winter comes too quick.

I like my experimental garden because It keeps things interesting for me....after years and years of growing I've got things pretty dialed...so my little side garden I experiment with is actually more entertaining for me then my greenhouses filled with fat "orbs" as you'd say lol.......in my EXP garden last year..I let some go with no training and kept the popcorn cleaned off,ended up with a monster single cola....I also got some SSH clones and let them do there thing with just a topping and opening them up some with LST....ended up well over 12' at last measurement ....this year I'm playing around with creating super flat plants and different topping techniques....I also recycled soil for the first time this year ....I have a pile that I call Fox Farms mountain on my ranch ....years of piled soil from my grows ...so I decided to experiment with reusing it....I used all DTE products with some local EWC and lime etc etc ....pretty simple and cheap ....so far it's worked very well ...I'm using way less nutes on those plants and achieving the same results ...buying new FFOF each year is not cheap....I have used DTE products as a top dress for flowering for a few years ...so I'm some what familiar with the product ....after a few years of successful runs I'm hoping to recycle my soil each year....gotta get it dialed and trust it first though.

I will be top dressing with a few different things, but I'm using maxsea bloom as my main nutrient, still looking into my flowering additives, used a few general hydro nutes last year but wasn't really happy with the results.

Went and checked in on the garden yesturday, holy cow! After the under stripping the plants have taken off. They are now taller than me and I'm 6'4". I sure a few will make it to the top fencing. One is almost 7 feet now. And I would say everything is starting to show pre flowers and the blue cheese is a week into flower. Going to be a fun year with a lot of work on my plate.

Things are looking a lot better after a kelp foair spray. And today the got some big treatment. Friend of mine gave me some really strong stuff. These big ones are over 6.5 feet:and the smaller "addition to the field is going okay:but I'm having problems with the gorilla glue, had two branches give out and die off on one of 5 plants. Wierd but I sort of expect it since I haven't netted these girls yet. Have the post(on the ground) just didn't have the net.
One thing I have learned is that having a solid truck is very important when you have to commute to your garden.
