BHO Taste & Smell Help!

So I've done quite a few runs now, and I've been able to come out with crystal clear shatter, using 7x Butane.

I also read that people's wax smells dank or tastes just like the flowers; but for me it's always slightly off, etc. I was just curious if there were any specifics in preserving the taste of the flower and smell? I only use NUGZ!! And either 7x Butane, or Vector. Vacuum Purge; at 120 degrees all that good stuff!

All help provided will be appreciated!!

looks good. no specifics other than keep heat low, dont vac too long, watch the bubble shape, etc..

why do you use a different blade each time?? cant you just do it all with 1 blade?

I was wondering same thing why so many blades but what works for him works
 
I just think it's easier then smearing it every time; and this way I can keep track of cleaning my pyrex easier as well!
 
it usually doesnt smear. youve got it too warm if its smearing. just the right temperature and you can scrape your whole dish in 1 blade.. if the blade will hold that much!!! many imes ive had 5 gram scrapes on the blade! I love it. its a different feeling... very satisfying haha

And when I say smear; I mean attempting to get it off the razor and getting it to stick to the non stick pad! lmao

But I have nothing against 1 razor; I just find it easier to scrape in a row; each row to a separate razor, and then I pile all my golden goodness together for the Vac purge lol
 
if you heat the back of the blade up with a lighter.. the oil just drips right off. dont burn it though! what doesnt drip, you can scrape with a 2nd blade and re drip that. if youre smart, you can get all the blades clean and all the oil on the paper, without burning it. and at the end, youll have 1 tiny drop that you cant get to drip off the blade, wipe that on a zig zag and roll a oil joint :)

120F is a little hot for the strains that we process. We get the best purge and terpene retention if we purge as fast as possible in thin films under -29.5" Hg and 115F, removing as soon as the solvent bubbles cease, leaving only the C02 and terpene bubbles behind.

The extract should smell and taste like what it came out of, so young material tastes more floral than older well dried and cured material. We either extract fresh cut material frozen, or material that has dried 5 to 7 days, still retaining about 25% water content.

The monoterpenes are mostly alcohols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, esters, and carboxylic acids, which have high surface tension and evaporate away with the water.

Buds will produce a more floral concentrate than trim, simply because there are more terpenes present. Fan leaf and stem oil isn't all that tasty.

no wonder why its so hard to collect lol.. i purge over water until its GLASS LIKE.. then scrape up with heat.. and then into the vac chamber after being thinned out in a thin layer on the griddle its so easy to deal with i used to try and scrape it like that.. and always lost a bunch or made a mess..
