BHO Blasting Straight Into Winterizing?

Hey I was wondering if I can blast straight into a dish with etoh//ISO to winterize basically right away. So I just basically blast into a Pyrex dish filled with my polar solvent and straight into the freezer. Yay or nay?

You can do this, but in my opinion it is better to do it in steps. If you blast straight into EtOH, it may be difficult to visually tell when most of the butane has evaporated. Then you may be sticking a container of EtOH mixed with butane into the freezer, where the butane will remain a liquid and may surprise you the next day. What I like to do is blast into a container until I see the butane almost all gone (gooey 'tane soup stage), then pour in EtOH heated on a double boiler for a quick "purge." EtOH boils at ~78C while butane boils at -1C so I believe this should almost immediately get rid of most of the remaining butane.

Yes it will work, and I've read of some folks doing that, but as noted, you must insure most of the butane is gone before sticking it in the freezer.

I don't think so.....freezing works by decreasing the solubility of the waxes in the relatively polar etoh.. which is why when you winterize you want to have hot etoh and use as little as possible just to dissolve and get in solution........soo blasting straight in the etoh would not only cool it but you would have a lot of it(not being able to judge how much you need) and possibly extra butane to hold in the fats and stuff.........that's my thoughts on it...might work, probly won't be too effective.........posted at the same time as fd...idk man try it out

for the extra 5 minutes that it takes, just do it right.

the most I would personally half ass it is only boil 95% of the butane off, so that you dont need to scrape it and its still somewhat liquidy and thin, then pour everclear into it so dissolve it, pour that mixture into a pyrex cup let it sit to maybe evap some more butane, and into the freezer it goes.

but blasting directly onto a dish of everclear sounds weird to me.

i have actually seen people do it, there is a youtube video ill see if i can find it, i actually looked interesting VP

this is what i have found so far but there is a guy doing it in his back yard that blast straight into a thing of everclear

i cant find it, the guy blasts into everclear and it is a similar process to water purging but the stuff doesn't clump together it dissolves out and the butane boils off immediately its a little freaky looking because it is a rather violent reaction

ah thats right ive seen that one before. thats pretty much what im talking about, except personally, I would have evapped a bit more butane.. but its all the same shit in the end.

I feel you qk, I'm on my phone too. Maybe I will try it but I do agree with what you guys are saying. Only saving me a few minutes really.thought it was interesting though lol.

did not say i liked his work, just that is was interesting way of doing it, more then one way to skin a cat

It will take much longer time and needs temperature control, n-butane will stop boiling when EtOH chilled under BP of n-butane by evaping of iso-butane.

interesinggggggg..

does it really help so much to spray right into everclear? hmmm. i usually use a hot water bath to reduce the pools of tane build up..

since butane boils off at such low temps.. maybeeeee this could be worth it.

at the rate my butane pours out of the tube, i'd think the everclear could keep up with the dissolve rate so layers of tane and chunks dont build/freeze up..

i dont see how its possible to instantly winterize though.. shits gotta be dissolved, then winterized..

i feel if you spray into very very cold ethanol, the butane wont dissolve fast enough... spraying lbs or so..

but like i said, i dun kknewww..

who is gonna try this shit out?

i just really like the idea of not having warm water under my dish to decrease moisture pick up..

hmmm. i do notice when i spray straight tane into a dish, the pool temps get down to veryyy very cold, below 0F.. the everclear could perhaps keep things warm enough... but i just dont see it being too much of an advantage.. at all.. you gotta predict how much everclear to use before hand.. i usually add enough everclear at the end, get a better idea of how much is needed..

i dont know if i can bite this.. besides the extra moisture, i dont see the advantage..

While iso-butane boils, the temperature will tend to sink to the boiling point of iso-butane.
Depending on the amount of gas and ethanol, and on the initial temperature of ethanol,
the temperature may drop below the boiling point of n-butane,
and n-butane does not boil until the solution heated to the boiling point of n-butane.

The liquid will appear stable and create the illusion that all of butane is boiled away.
But in fact remains a time bomb.
That is why I said that temperature control is needed.

Good thing this thread was posted as I was having similar questions. I have been blasting into a pyrex round container and then putting it onto light heat while the butane evaporates. Then I add in the everclear at 5 parts to 1 and throw it in the freezer for 48 hours. My question is how long do you let the butane evaporate for before adding in the everclear? Also, someone mentioned blasting into a pyrex sitting in a hot water bath? Please advise. Thanks and best regards.

All I have to say is be careful. I tested the everclear butane mix. And they DON'T MIX. take a cup of Everclear and start dropping in finger folds of your left over blast material straight out of the tube and see what happens. Sizzles and splatters just like hott bacon grease

wouldnt that be an indication that your wax is still full of butane? Maybe not im new to the ethenol process... but that doesnt sound right for a substance with no gas in it. What do you recommend you use for ethenol?
