best yield and quality

Whats goin on folks, have a few questions and I'm really just looking for suggestions. I'm getting ready to start a small crop and I was going to get some of the following or all of em: white widow, northern lights, hindu kush, afghani, & ak 47

...I'll probably grow 20+ plants in a 8x8 space using 2 1000 hps lights in soil.

I'm looking to get the best quality and highest yield and thats where your suggestions will help me. Any and all information, from nutrients to soil, ventilation to trimming, anything that will help the overall production of the plant. I want the best I can grow with a high yield. Thanks in advance.

you should do alot of reaserch like the rest of us who are trying to get the best result.

go to the faq to start, then just start watching the forums.

figure out wether you want organic or not, you have to think about your setup, how are you going to get water to your plants, is it in the basment? a closet? with 2 1000 watt bulbs how are you going to cool the area? are you going to have a vegitation area and a flowering area? do you plan on cloning? how much space do you have for vertical growth? why soil and not hydro?

alot of stuff to concider...

Well I've been researching for like... 8 years....thats why I'm asking for suggestions from people that who have grown these strains. I have everything covered I just want some expert tips on a bigger yield and higher quality.

Researching for eight years? You should have a "doctorate of dank" by now.

lol yeah seriously..your 8 years should atleast render you asking specific questions, but im happy to help nonetheless. here's my advice:

light - your 2 1000watts will be great, keep them up through the whole grow.

soil - i use foxfarm's Ocean Forest mixed with a bag of Light Warrior.

nutrients - i use Pure Blend Pro, Liquid Karma, Kool Blooms and i also add unsulphered organic molasses to veg.

also, make sure they get ample ventilation ESPECIALLY for flowering - the huge buds will release water @ night and if you dont ventilate they will rot on the bud. do more research! go with what works best, im sure youve had many grows in those 8 years. i also agree with the above poster, invest in a light mover since you already have 2 lights and you can double your grow area!

Now if you were to grow aero or flood and drain you could get more plants and better light coverage in that sized space and hydro is easier and faster then soil also

right on, thats the kinda tips I'm looking for, just because I've been researching it for a long time doesn't mean I have *experience growing it...I'm just now getting to the point where I can follow through with it.

Is it better to use both MH and HPS for different stages of growth or will I get same/similar results with just HPS?

Well the strains you name arnt really going with what your asking or saying you want. If you want a big yielding high potency plant Id go and give Great White Shark from greenhouse seeds. If your in the US you ll have to use a broker as they dont direct ship...try World Wide Marijuana Seeds .2 1000 watt lights on those 20 plants if you want the larger yields isnt enough or at least you will need a light mover to move the lights as biggest yield will come from 5 gallon pots with 2 sq meters for each plant

Thanks for the info/link.

if you want the best weed go with advanced nutrients check out there site its used to grow med marijuana and by most of the pro's good luck and go get some hands on nothing beats it.

Advanced nutes are good but take some skill to get used to as they are not to forgiving if mixed wrong. FoxFarms are good nutes and perfect to learn with and give great results. As for the lighting as cheap as new digital switchable ballasts are now adays I d get those as 1000 watters that are switchable arent even $200 each anymore and run both mh and hps bulbs you just put whichever one you want to use in it. The mh will give you much tigher noded plants with thicker bushier plants with little strecthing. Then go hps for flower and tight high yield nuggs.I reccomend both use the mh for flower and the hps enhcanced spectrum bulbs for flower

mh is best for veg, hps is best for flower. if you can only get 1, then get hps - however, you can also get a switchable ballast and be able to do both. i also agree with filthyfletch, if you can buy 2 lights then mh/hps together would be perfect.

Hi yurple! I'm sorry about the doctorate comment - i was just teasing and went for a cheap laugh.

It is much better to use MH for veg and HPS for flower. Using just one will work but I think it can affect yield.

I am far from being an expert but from what I understand, using just MH causes stringy plants and using just HPS causes more inter nodal spacing.

It is also my understanding that ONLY yield is affected by using just MH or just HPS. Potency and the time it takes to finish flowering remains the same.

But switchable ballasts are relatively inexpensive and if price is no object - they have dual-fixture/spectrum ballast/reflector combos (that's what i use a 600w HPS and a 400w MH burning simultaneously through the whole grow - it was about 520 shipped)

ah no worries, thanks for the tips
