best way/s to germinate aged beans?

ive read of a few methods here on RIU to raise old beans (from near death), hopefully this thread will find some tried & true ways, very sad if an old pack of a much loved strain does not sprout, especially if its been discontinued

Put them in a cup of water. The cleaner the better. I'd use RO water myself. Let them soak awhile. 12-24 hours. Then put paper towels on a plate. I put 4 layers on the bottom. Place seeds on top of PT. Then cover with 2 more layers of PT. Then slowly spray drip or apply water until all towels are soaked more than they can hold but don't over do it. Then cover it with a bowl. Tilt the plate and hold the bowl on top and allow excess water drain. When it slows to a drip stop. Place the covered plate in a place that will be in the upper 70s. Do not remove the bowl. Keep the PT moist. Check the corners not covered by the bowl often. When it's less moist NOT dry. Uncover and add water as before. Excess cover drain. Do over as required. Normal seeds pop in 48-72 hours. After that odds go down dramatically. In this case being old after 2 weeks your probably done. When adding water check seeds any that pop remove and plant.

is there anything beer cant be used for?....wonderful stuff...hope its not too hot where you are, 42C forecast for here today...
Pretty sure there is nothing that beer can't do ha ha ha.
Fark mate, 41 here as well :( I'm on the flush with my girls hey, can't risk them dying in a heap and getting nothing! 2 weeks early but hey, the sin city gear looks the best so far!!

sorry to hear they are suffering with the heat, mine too...they usually survive 42-43C but when its 48C with that hot westerly wind it cooks the leaves off like steamed lettuce...its just too much especially for the fat leaf indicas though the sativas survive better, good to hear the sincity gear is kickin on

I have heard you can freez them for 24 houres.then put in a worm place on papper tails in a dark place and get old seed to sprout but you can here any thing.ky..BUT I do know some prows as got it to work on some old seeds befor.ky

All good man, hoping this LED will solve that problem, it's working extremely well so far, I reckon it may just do the job! We'll see :)

Gibberellic acid in the water soaking solution can be used to resuscitate old beans, but it depends on how old. 100PPM should be sufficient, and soak no more than 24hrs. This is the hormone used to create feminized seeds when sprayed during flower.
