Best Homemade Reservoir?

In the process of getting the grow room set up but am Pretty clueless as to creating a reservoir, My problem is water - like is tap water okay or mineral water and does using them come with problems, another problem is watering how would i go about setting up automatic water maintenance as i work pretty long hourskiss-ass

You probably need to do some reading. Start with the link below.

Short answers...

Mineral water is bad. Tap water is better. R.O. water is better still.

Timers run your pumps.

And, yes you have a long way to go.

actually i had been using R.O. and recently switched to tap, our water is good under 200ppm outta the faucet, the girls have never been happier, bad thing about R.O. it removes cal, and mag. then you have to add it back, pain in the ass if ya ask me.

What sort of system are you building...DWC, ebb and flow, drip? Need a little more info. For materials, I use an old Coleman cooler as a reservoir. Holds 12 gallons, is tough and you can get them cheap at garage sales.

here is an easy dwc that gives great results and you only have to really check it once a daw and maybe chance out the nut solution every week.

anything light tight with a lid and a water pump should be pretty good if you need a conventional reservoir.

300gph on the same floor, 600gph with a little height, 1500gph for 10ft vertical or more.

you'll probably need a greenhouse timer that will run the pump water the plants like 2 times a day or something. lights on, half way through the day. something like that I haven't really done it myself.

peace.

Well I have done it myself, and you dont need a timer or a pump other than an air pump and an air stone. Set it up like the pics above. Fill the res till it just touches the bottom of the net pots. Keep it here till the roots hit the water and you can lower the water level some. Just keep the air stone going and your good. Dont bother with pumps and irrigation tubes K.I.S.S. i say. It works great and not much work or cost. You also said to water like 2 times a day. This is simply wrong information. Most ebb/flow set ups run for about 10min an hour.
