C.A.P's ebb and grow works good for me i have also heard good things about the flo and gro they all work on the same general concept so i would assume they all turn out around the same results depending on the grower, i know the flo and gro uses square net pots in there system so its a bit different than the c.a.p (bucket in bucket).

Cap Ebb N gro is alright.
Everyone in a while people have problems with their controllers going out.
I don't like the way they do gaskets.
Hydrofarm makes the Waterfarm systems in square buckets.
I like the square shape over circular.

The size of the bucket really depends on how long you plan to veg. 5 gallons is VERY BIG. You could grow trees in them. I am using 4 gallon square buckets I found on CL for $1 each. Don't know how well you would get the switches to seal in a round bucket.
I actually have two complete 18 site systems. One in a veg tent and one in the flower room. When I am ready to flower...(and the other plants are done flowering). I simple take the buckets out of the veg tent and put them into the buckets in the flower room. Works pretty pimp.
I actually just start to flower using a DWC/ ebb grow hybrid. I keep 3" of water in the bottom of the buckets and then have airstones running in the bottom of them. Seems to be working pretty well. As always, the scale has the final say in the matter.

I don't know about 2' minimum on the lights. Maybe with 1k bulbs. 8' is plenty high. Definetly train your plants though. I love big and bushy plants. Let them grow super big with monster stalks...they EXPLODE with buds. The bigger the stalk the more buds. Period.
Just use bushmaster if your worried about the stretch. 1ml/gallon, no nutes, for three, maybe four days. Total stretch about 2". Flowers forming in 4 days.

We will see, I read a very good article about hydrib systems like this that achieve great results. I may go full DWC next round and just use the ebb/flow aspect to keep the nutes moving and everything fresh. The problem I have is that my buckets fit tightly together. So if there is allot of water in the bottom bucket, the airstone will make the water splash or pullse out between the buckets and it makes a mess. I think if I had proper net pots up top this wouldn't be a problem. Right now I have the air pump on a timer so it shuts off when they are filling and draining.
One advantage I can see right now as I am able to run lower nutrient concentrations (well foliar sea kelp is helping with uptake as well) but I am hovering around 800 with no signs of deficiency. Roots are looking banger.
