best bet for small sample...?

Ok my plants a about a week away from harvest, and id like to know the best way to dry a small bud to sample. Should i just let it sit out for a few days, or can i cut it into smaller pieces and let it sit for a shorter period of time??? Whats my best bet for the best quality smoke??

leave it on the plant till its done .. 1 joint today will be 5 joints in a week...

ya its the small buds at the bottom and not really a big plant. i doubt they will get much bigger then they are now.
