Just go to wally world and go to the pet dept, and get an air pump for an aquaium .i'd get one with two outlets and get two airstones (any shape) I also picked up a bag of fishing weights to tie to the stones to keep them in one place. Most of the people here are getting an 8 gal container, use 6 gal of water. Cut 4 or 6 holes in the top for your grow pots. Check out Rosemans thread on getting started its very complete . Good luck and keep checking on this site for help its the best place I've found, very helpful and no jerks here!! time for my meds!!see ya

Depends on what you want the bubbles to do. if you just want them to oxygenate the water. one or two small stones and an aquarium pump is fine. If you want the bubbles to water/feed plants before roots are in the water so you don't have to use feeder tubes, then you need more control and several large airstones and a more robust air pump.

I had 2 plants in a 3 gallon Rubbermaid and they sucked so much water outta there I wouldn't recommend it the bigger the better..... air pumps are rated for gallons get one to fit your tank and then maybe another one lol I like 6" air stones the black ones from Petco not the blue wally world ones seem to really roll the water around in the tank.......I clean my tank out once a week every Monday or Tuesday with hot hot water and h202 and a lil scrubbing action till its not slippery feeling anymore....they make T splitters for fish tank air hoses to attach more than one stone to a pump with one outlet
