Been a long year..

Well it has been a long year. I started this off with two, maybe 3 or four bag seed. The seeds were planted last summer..a year ago.. in July. Yes I know, we were just outside gardening and smokin found a seed or two in the sack and the rest is history. I am a Veteran, injured overseas, trying to get off the va's morphine. I have my prescription here in Wash state.

One seed stood out, took root and has totally kicked a$$. That single seed was a tough little girl, She was about 10 inches tall and had started to flower when I brought her back inside last fall. I started reading..mostly from this forum. I lovingly placed her under a Lamp, 24/7 for a few months. She reverted to veg and grew some sexy legs. I took cuttings in @ Jan and had my first harvest a few short weeks later. Real short because I was a dumbA$$ and thought my plants were herming on me so I wacked em down in mid stride..rookie maneuver, but I learned a few lessons.

Mama was doing great so off I went. The next set was 6, then 3..due to a massive die off..and now nine! I have since lost the mother, she was a wonderful giver. She just up and died, one day full of green, the next day total wilt..the same thing happened to my second group. No sense in crying, she did me well and taught me a lot.

My humble little room is no longer in my closet, it now occupies a 10x10x7 room in my basement. I use Wardrobe boxes for clone/vegging with T-8's. I currently have one 400HPS and @4-5 big CFL's I bought at Lowe$ which work GREAT. The 400 is on a mover. I plan on putting in another 400 on my next go. I grow in soil, Happy Frog, I use little to no nutrients, maybe a shot of N here and there, some CalMag, B vitamins, and a light seafood supplement for bloom. I do my own composting and add a shot of my soil mix from my composter when I put the babies into the two/three gallon pots. My tap is fine at 7.0 ph butI give it a shot to bring it down to 6.5/7. I have used molasses in my finish before and am using it this time. Great stuff and makes total sense. My buds are compact, decent sized and plentiful. They smell wonderful and look great. I havent had a pest issue yet, my room stays below 70 at night. I veg for about 4-5 weeks before letting them bloom. I am going I am messing with the idea of cedar or redwood shavings on the floor.

I still do not remember what the strain was called but have dubbed it my own, Blue Lemon HAze, I think it was a Kush of some origin at one time.. I've never been a fan of Kush this Kush that, reminds me of this old girlfriend I used to have..that burned me..lol.. And I think the name fits well, It has diesel/cheese qualities but a really nice blue hue to it and has a wonderful citrus aroma to it tall like skyscraper. I got a few Femmed seeds out of my last batch..missed a small pollen sac on one plant, glad I did now, with mama passing. I may try to reveg these and revive the line if not it's back to seed. Might be time for a change I reckon.

This strain is great for pain management and cooks into some unusually strong edibles, one of my brownies at eight down by eleven pain free..and up feeling great the next day. I gave some to another friend in need and she could not believe the magic. My mom ate one by "accident" the night of the meteor shower and couldn't stop babbling..lmao. Yeah..my mom was 25 in 1968..and "never touched it" righhttt..This is an amazing plant and is a total joy to grow. I love my new Hobby, props to this forum for all of the good reads. Without it I would not be where I am at now.

Thought I would share a few pictures for all to enjoy. The very last one is pre-harvest on my first closet set. I will add more as I go, I get about 1oz per plant cured from my previous efforts, I think this time is going to go far past that. I am hoping to break the 16 mark on these 9. gona be a long winter and the word is out around here soo... I am cooking a lot these days, and give away a lot of extra meds, yes give, so more is better around here. I am supporting two other patients beside me, One GF just had her second hip redone and loves the edibles I give her, the scond GF is a nut..has anxiety problems. but with the edibles they get by nicely.

I guess if asked my advice or opinion on this fine hobby..I would say just relax, give your girls good light, good soil, good H2O, TIMERS are a must..I tried the turn on the lights every day thing..his will not work..it is a PITA and consistency is key here..I think.. and a ton of love and you will not be disappointed. Enjoy my stoner friends.

My next go like I said will be a reveg..I am going to try and get them to retake over the winter. All the while germinating some Jack Frost. We will see where that goes.

These are five, maybe 6 weeks into bloom, I think six on Monday. I can't wait to see them in two more weeks!

Well, I tried my hand at revegging..and glad I did. This strain isn't the grandest performer. Actually, I have been screwing up a lot apparently. My revegges are super happy and very prolific, energetic growers. I suspect I wasn't letting them veg long enough, my root balls were small and somewhat confined to the rockwool I had started them in..SO

1.. I cut everything off and let them come back..about two months or so its been BUT wow are they kicking ASS.

2.. I have one of my Panama Red starts coming in quite robust. See photo's. The Panama Red was given to me with about 7 other neat strains an old grower gave me. I stillhave about twenty nice mature seeds. I anxiously await the fire. I am excited to see it mature. I really hope it is female, They were supposed to be sexed..we'll see. I have a few more germing at another site anyway but we will see.

Plants just got a watering and a feeding so they look a little droopy. I've stretched my watering program to encourage root growth. ANy comments on the greenery. I am still feeding my same nutes, I've been skipping the molasses this time because they just seem to be doing so well without. I still see that mottling on the leaves, not as much now but it is still there. Tomorrow I am going to add another 400W of metal HAlide and CHange my Sodium bulb..its way overdue. ANyway..check my girls out. DOing well in the Great NOrthwest.

Last two are the Panama Red. Probably still too early to see its traits but is a real Hardy plant. Very different from the others. PEACE

Here is a recent photo of my Sexxy new girl. This is from the vintage, supposed "panama red" seeds. I am beginning to have my doubts of the strain, but none the less, she is sexy. Do not mistake this for disappointment by any means, I am very happy to have such a healthy plant. The new growth leaves are certainly thinner than the first fan leaves. The first fan leaves are as big as dinner plates, most of the new ones are thinner, longer and have nine..yes nine thinner fingers. It is likely a hybrid of some sort.

There is no substitution for hands on learning. As an excited novice grower I realized that I have been hindering my plants growth.. killing them with kindness so to speak. Since my reveg started I see 3 to 4 times the growth on my "old" variety. I will add a few pictures later of the revegged plants.

My mom, an avid gardnener herself is in on the show now. I have her tending seedlings and starts as I focus on efficient use of lighting and environment. MOre on that later also, we are hoping to take it outside this spring in her garden space. Growing these plants has become a sort of therapy for both of us and has brought us close. I recently came into a pretty nice cache of seeds from a dispensary that was "closed" down. They took the weed but left all the edibles..seeds..etc. SHe is germing some Jack frost, a few of my Panama Red and some Diesels, blue dragon, lemon haze, white widow.. CANT WAIT to put them in the sun this spring.

Things I have learned this year are too numerous to mention. If I had to condense it down I would say to just take it slow. REad, apply, fail..get better. I have a good mentor that has allowed me to fail. I am a firm believer that without some level of failure or mistake we never really learn.

As this WA mmj/recreational thing takes effect it has removed some of the anxiety out of growing. I recently, when I say recent I mean this year.. spoke with a public defender in my city..Spokane.. about a possesion charge for my 18 year old. It along with @ 100 other cases have been tossed by the prosecutor. The PD informed me that the city hasn't been actively pursuing these case for some time now, AS LONG AS there were no other extenuating circumstance. BUt that belongs in another forum.

Back to my babes, so I took four babies before turning the lights back, (pics to follow) They are doing well and I expect that by FEB/MAR my four will yield me at least 8 more starts. This plant is exceptional. At two months old give or take, her stalk is easily 3/4 inch thick and she is @30 inches tall. Secondary branches are robust and full, I might have a home run on my hands here. I have not seen this type of growth ever in my garden. I have backed off the watering, "nutes", molasses..etc.. We are going to do a small reset on the lighting to maximize the space yet again. Starting to get some crowding.. this takes a lot of consideration though, going back to the old overluvingem rule. I will keep posting.
