Bee Keepers??

Are any of you guys or ladies into bee keeping? I've been thinking about setting up some bee hives and just wanted some input on weather or not you enjoy having bees? What are the cons as far as maintenance of the hives ? I plan on setting them up in the spring when the weather is a little warmer.

Great idea, good luck. We new need more bees. All I know is they don't always overwinter too well, but they can make it if you do it right.

i'm curious too. what is the start up cost?

we were just in Poland for vacation and visited a small bee op. about 50 hives maybe. it was a semi retired couple and that's how they made their extra money. they had just got them ready for winter time. their honey was good shit though.

^ when I first saw that I thought it was the coolest thing ever, I might get one too theyr not really expensive either, I give my plants honey instead of molasses so it would pay for itself eventually

yep, I bookmarked their site a while back.
I am not allowed to have chickens, goats or bees on my .5 acre lot, while people in nearby Denver can have all of that on a .08 acre lot or less.

I have chickens, fight the power, but I am too scurrrred to get bees. I have a perfect spot for them on top of the garage.
The flow hive looks sick.

I inquired about keeping bee's myself....so i started researching and asking around. There is like a beekeepers association, go to their meetings and inquire to one of them about buying a hive. Im sure they would be happy to give you some startup info also.

The guys who destroy bee nests in peoples attics etc etc should (ask nicely ) brush all the bees into a box and give u them free. before he destroys their nest.

Motherfucker had the balls to tell me the county did not want additional expenses for animal control dealing with the foxes and coyotes that chickens attract.

Guess what bitch? Animal control in this county does not deal with wild animals. That is for the state wildlife guys. How do I know?
Because I had a mangy fox in my yard that would not go away. Animal control said they would not do shit about it.
