BC Big Bud

Anyone out there planted any BC Big Bud in the recent years? I've started it as my first grow mostly for the concern of big yield and easy growing factor.

I've seen through many a pictures of many a strains of Marijuana as I've been growing/researching and it seems to me that in matters of sexing before the flowering stage, Male plants seem to be mostly stalky and spaced out between nodes.

I also have another strain I started with the BC which were seeds that I got from a bag of KB (with seeds? I know. What does this guy think I am...a farmer?)

The loner strain is about 15 inches tall in his late 5th week of Vegging and he is very bare looking. Large spaces of stalk in between nodes and what not. It also grows only 3 leaved branches.

The two BC plants I have are growing very many shoots and colas (what appear to match the top cola leaves) all over the plant. I currently use the tie down method as apposed to the topping method in hopes that my plant will use less life/energy healing and promote it toward many new growth.

The larger of my two BC plants has about 6-8 grown branches that are similar looking to to the top.

The smaller of the two has about 5-6 branches.

I grow in soil. MG soil and my ph is about 6.9. I use Peters plant food which is a 24-8-16. I also have blood meal mixed in with the soil (12-0-0). I'm in the process of acquiring chicken poop for ferting on my next harvest. I've gotten word its only a few steps off bat guano.

I use a feed-feed-flush-feed feed feed-flush-feed-feed-flush...etc. I like the plant to not get totally used to being fed and flushed.

I have a Metal Halide bulb that I am using for Veg & Flowering. I acquired this light at a very inexpensive price which had been my main reason for not starting a grow operation prior. The guy who sold it to me, told me it was a 5000w bulb. I believe it to maybe be a 1000w bulb at best. (*edit*) The bulb is a 1000w Metal Halide, as it was listed on the bulb itself.

Soon I will have pics up, I've just got to borrow a good camera, or get one on ebay soon for a decent price.

Your ph is a tad high for big bud,you should lower it a bit, also whats up with the chicken shit ferts, organic ferts are not the easiest way to fertilize, they work by the material rotting in the soil, there is no real way to control the amount of ferts the plant is getting because the fert rate is based on rott,i'd switch to different nutes.

Your big buds will EXPLODE under 1,000 watts of hps if you can afford it.

Luckily, I haven't started using chicken shit. But was considering it for my next harvest.

this light cost me 40 bucks. which was really what got me to put any more cash into the Op.

The room I grow room is about 18' x 9' x 5'. It is completely covered in tinfoil.

The average temperature is about 70 degrees F, with a pretty steady humidity of 38-48%.

Pics as promised!

1. View of my Grow Room from the entrance.
2. the reservoir (18L Trashcan)
3. View across my tubs. I use the 30 Gallon rubbermaids.
4. View of my main plants and Holmes air purifier/ionizer.
5. 1000w Metal Halide Bulb
6. The two main BC plants
7. The bigger of the two BC plants. (Call him Aardvark)
8. Trying to point out what look like balls. Maybe Aardy is a male. Notice the gloves. Always wear gloves in your room. If you ever get busted, it is tough to bring you down if there are no fingerprints in the room at all. Wipe everything down with windex.

9. Aardvarks top Cola.
10. A better picture of what I believe to be balls.
11. Aardvark and Kip Day 7 of flowering.
12. Another stem of Aardy
13. If those are balls....I'm so pissed.
14. This guy started from a seed of unknown bud. It came through my spot as Kind bud that didn't have a male plant pulled soon enough so it was pretty seedy. I kept a few of the seeds and this guy just bursted during veg. I was moving him from the end of the tub to the middle and must have cut a root or something because he was droopy from there. I trimmed him up and have left him alone and just watered hoping he would come back. He's grown like shit since then. But he wasn't dead so I didn't want to kick him.

15. Those leaves don't look too bad. But no vertical growth in over a month I'd say.

16. Another view of Aardy and a view back acroos my room. That wood panel with the foil covering most of it is the door out. What is super fuckin cool about it is that from the other side. It looks like a board for the wall. It doesn't look like a door at all.

My room is in the basement and 2 sides of the wall are big brick concrete. The wall that the reservoir and purifier rest against are two other rooms in the basement, used for storage. People are never down in those rooms. It works out very well.

There you go folks. If Aardy turns out to be male and Kip isn't. I'll most likely breed for seeds and as many of them as I can get. This way, (as I stupidly didn't do this time) I can plant many many many seeds to get 3-4 females.

I'll also be going to multiple smaller pots to sit inside the 35 gallon tubs. Where each plant will get their own pot.

feedback it up

Looks like today I've noticed I am learning how to roll.

Just wanted to congratulate myself on my member participation thus far.

Day 10 of Flowering.

I've determined that Aardy is in fact a male. To save my self more expense on seeds, and the delivering. I've decided to pollinate my female (Kip) and use her seeds for my next grow.

I've already decided on smaller pots inside of the tubs for my next grow. I'm hoping to be able to fit about 5-6 in each tub.

I will continue using the supercropping, tie down, and pruning method I currently use. Big Bud gets bushy.

Hopefully only about 46 days away from 1st harvest of seeds and small amount of bud.

And it is for sure we have the male on our hands. Though from the last pics you should have been able to tell. Just a few more pics. I trimmed Aardy down quite a bit today. (29.04.08)

If I'm wanting seeds on Kip, how long should I wait to pull Aardy after assuring I'll have seeds? I'm guessing the basic pollination they taught us in grade school is pretty applicable here?

1. Aardy and Kip having a blast.
2. Kips top cola
3. Shot of Aardy's Balls
4. Aardy trimmed up

I really can't wait until this harvest is through. One plant (with seeds) is really not too cost effecient. I'm thinking that my light should be able to support about 15 plants. So hopefully I reap a bunch of seeds. I've got about 7 left from the seed bank. plus the free mango they sent me (10) so i'll hopefully be planting about 30-40 seeds, to get at least 15 females.

Here are some pics.

Aardy is not doing so hot. His leaves are browning and curling in over themselves and dying. I don't believe my light is too close. I want to think it is a Nute problem but Kip is fine. Either way. My females are healthy and that is what is important.

1, 2, 3. Kip and her beautiful flowers.

3 n 4. And this one has bloomed well. Quite a success story really. I wish you all could have seen her after her transplant went terribly wrong. Still not much vertical growth but I'll take the flowers. She shall be called, Adelaine.

Just a few more weeks...and oh the sweet sweet cheeba.

I believe I've got a nute burn problem. The next two or three waters will be fresh and only. No nutes. The buds are looking great.

I did do some small amounts of trimming to open up light for buds underneath a sort of canopy. This could also be why many of Kips leaves are turning brown and down. Any experienced ideas on this?

So far so good. First grow and I already can't wait to start the next one. I picked up some Strawberry Cough from around town and the shit came with seeds! I brought it up to the guy (because kind don't come with seeds) asking him why I gotta pay so much because some shit didn't pull a male plant in time. I got a discount and about 50 seeds!

I've still got BC Big Bud seeds and BC Mango. Unlike my first crop I'll germinate about 25 seeds hoping to get down to about 10 Females if lucky. As long as I get 5+ I won't feel too bad. Anyway...PICTURES!

1-5 (Pics of Kip and her beautifully forming buds) I'm wondering if the trimming didn't put a bit of stress on Her causing these leaves to get a little sick.

6-9 Pics of Adelaine just impressive as can be.

More pics to come as more develops, hopefully these next few flushes put the life back into Kip.

What the hell is happening?

Somebody....Anybody? I can't really tell whats the deal. I've flushed out Kip and am hoping that in a few days or week that all will be well. Adelaine is doing great, so it is puzzling to me how Kip is withering away? If anyone could help with this, thank you.

damn man. looks like that shit got burned. idk why it would just turn brown like that within days. im sorry bro. looks like she is a gonnerrrrrr

Kip has been cut out. The very small amount of bud on her is drying right now. I'm thinking maybe a bowl or two...sad.

Adelaine is looking great. We have about two weeks to go or less and she's receiving just fresh fresh water from here on out. I'll get pics up real soon but I tell you, her buds are gorgeous. It's redeeming seeing as how out of 4 seeds (stupid stupid me...) 1 didn't make it, 1 was male, 1 was female that just got her shit burned, and the other is about to make it to harvest.

For my first grow...I wouldn't call it a success even after Adie makes it out alive, but I can't say I failed completely. From here I've got more of it down, and this site is just such a great help. To those who have been a part of this first journal, thanks for stopping by. To those who hate...thanks for being a part of the community.

Pics to come soon.

Hey man shame about the burn! I wish you better luck next time! At least from this grow im sure you've learnt alot for next time! And you still have one to harvest so not all is lost! Keep it up man!

I Must Agree With All Said Above....!!! The Leaning Alone Was Worth The Time... The Next Time, Those Bitches Better Watch Out. In Yur Journal U Talk Ease Of Grow For The Weight, Come Check My Journal 3 Plants, A Pound Of The Serious When Done. Watered Every 6 Days. I Do It From A Wheelchair Or Crawling On The Floor, So That Means If I Can,,,, Well U Can.!!! Allways Db~tlb.:) And You Didnt Walk Away Empty Handed Ethier. A Second Big Plus.!!!

Well here is Adelaine. She's small, but looks like I might get about a quarter dry after all is done and well.

i'm hoping she's got ten days or less because I've got about 50 bomb bud seeds to start getting on. I think I'll plant about 25 to save the other half for the 3rd quarter.

Can anyone suggest the best sort of magnifying lens to purchase? I got a 10x magnifying glass and it didn't do jack. I got a 30x jewelers lens and it's not bad but I still can't really see the details of the trichomes. Also, I apologize for not getting any better shots with this 6.1 mp camera. I'm looking into something better as I'm borrowing a friends camera at the moment.

To the haters...all is not lost. What we all do (if we do it) is illegal. Everywhere (or just about) and the penalties are stiff everywhere (or just about) Jail time is jail time, and we all are risking it. Get off your high horses if you happen to be riding one and help support those who need guidance. We're all here to learn and grow together because we can't do it with the public around us.

If you must scoff, or mock. Do it in front of your plants, in your room. Keep the hate out of my grow and off the forum.

it looks like U had a problem with ur water. definitely a lockout. pH is probably off or U just overwatered.

words of wisdumb:

-next time, put em in pots with drainage holes and water them once every few days.
Ur biting off more than U can chew in that rubbermaid tub. especially for a n00b.

- cut the MiracleG with 50% perlite.

- dont plant them in the MiracleG until they are 2 week old seedlings.

- dont feed them till bottom leaves are yellowing.

^^thats a nice ass bud bro.

And From Your Pic's, Your Watering The Stock, Start Watering The Out Edge And Leave About 2 Inches Of Dry Around That Stock Area, And This Will Help U....!!!

I just noticed that also.

U went overboard in such a large container, the roots wont fill that entire container, and U already know that, or else U wouldnt be watering right around that particular area.
put a plant that size, in a container the same size as the area U watered, and leave it there till it becomes root bound.

great job on the setup and the first try, but like I said before I think U were biting off a lil more than U could chew, so instead of diving in head first, take it slowly and see the results start to get better and better.
